I’ve really enjoyed the atmosphere and the people here. Nick and the other coaches have been incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and always available to answer questions or help whenever needed. The positive environment makes it easy to keep showing up and improving. I can definitely see myself continuing this journey, and I’d highly encourage anyone—regardless of age, fitness level, or whatever they have going on in life—to give jiu-jitsu a try. It’s been a great experience, and I’m glad I took the first step.

Walter’s Jiu Jitsu is amazing. It is for children as young as 3-4 all the way up to adults. They don’t only have Jiu Jitsu, they have wresting, boxing and many forms of other exercise. Come in and check them out. You want be disappointed!

Walters Jujitsu is a fun and welcoming place to learn jujitsu, with an environment that makes everyone feel comfortable from day one. I was in town and looking for a gym to drop in for a night of good training. I ended up choosing Walters Jiu Jitsu because of how close it was to my hotel and all the great reviews. The website made it really easy to view the schedule and class structure. The techniques that Nick showed were broken down well, and it was clear he cares that everybody there has their game leveled up. Overall great instruction, and everyone at the gym was super friendly and welcoming. Also, the facility is really nice w/ big mat space and locker rooms w/showers & sauna. Safe to say that Walters is going to be my go-to drop in spot in New Bern!

Blackbelt visiting from Atlanta and I was looking for a Jiu Jitsu school to train at. I heard great things about Walter Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school and came to train. I really enjoyed how they structured their classes and Ioved the technique/ instructionals given. Professor Walter is an amazing instructor, very kind and a great training partner. I got some really good training here from everyone and this will definitely be my go to school whenever I come back to New Bern to visit. If you are looking for a top notch Jiu Jitsu school in the area, this is the place to be.

I was in town for work and arranged ahead of time to stop in for a no gi class. The mats and bathrooms were clean. I’ve been rolling a while and that’s a bigger deal to me now. Instruction was great and everyone had a good work ethic to drill and get reps. Rolling was great. No egos. No easy rolls. Great gym.Very friendly.

Walter’s Jiu Jitsu is truly incredible. Every staff member is friendly and helpful. The establishment is modern and very clean! They have a stunning high quality merchandise area and thoughtful amenities! This dojo has so much to offer! Coming into jiu jitsu as a complete beginner I was so relieved at how approachable and encouraging the trainers and students are. We have a 3 year old (girl) in the fire ants class and a 6 year old (boy) in the kids classes. Katie and Kyle both do an excellent job at patiently balancing fun, focus and learning. Our kids look forward to jiu jitsu and benefit greatly from the emotional and physical values they’re developing from jiu jitsu. Danielle leads the women’s class Wednesday evenings and does a remarkable job!! She is just as sweet as she is lethal!! Danielle and Jim run the evening adult classes and do a spectacular job at teaching the fundamentals of jiu jitsu. My husband absolutely thrives in the morning classes with Nick. Nick is definitely dedicated to his dojo and craft. The warm environment that nick maintains radiates energy!! As a complete beginner I can honestly say (I thought) jiu jitsu was out of my comfort zone.. after 5 classes I am completely sold and learning SO MUCH!!! Jiu jitsu is for everyone and Walter’s jiu jitsu is for you!

There are so many great things happening at Walter’s Jujitsu, it’s hard to pick a place to start. After signing my family up for classes, we weren’t sure what we were about to experience. What we found was a caring, thoughtful, highly skilled Coaching Staff. Nick Walter’s has an amazing group of instructors, and Nick himself is a stand up individual, and a highly skilled Master of Jujitsu. Whether we are: laughing and enjoying our 3 year old daughter’s Fire Ants class ( Coach Kati does such a great job with the kids) Or enjoying my son learning in the 6 and up class, taught by Coach Kyle and Kati. Who both really get in and teach the kids proper basics. We have been impressed with every level so far. The adult classes are fun and are taught by both Nick in the mornings, and Coach Jim and Danielle in the afternoons. All of which are amazing and highly skilled instructors. They’re beginner friendly, and really help get you past the first timers jitters quickly. My wife and I have had a great time. I myself am trying to squeeze in as many classes as I can, and with the schedule that’s offered it’s easy to do. I highly recommend Walter’s Jujitsu to anyone wanting to learn an invaluable life skill, or even just looking to get back into shape! You don’t have to be good to start, but you have to start to be good.
