My daughter and I took advantage of the free 10 day trial here. I was happy to find out they had a Woman’s only class for self defense. I hadn’t known that going in. My daughter was not happy I wanted her to take jujitsu and she was reluctant. She doesn’t like the close contact of grappling. BUT during the first class she found a confidence and I even caught her smiling more than once. She even came home to show her dad her moves. The staff was friendly and spacious. The class was small, but there were always enough people for us to practice. I learned a lot and would recommend it to anyone. Less

Mariah (the women empowered instructor) has created such a wonderful dynamic and sisterhood amongst the women there. My coach pushes me to become better every day and I have learned so much from him. My first experience with jiu jitsu was the women empowered program at HRK(Hampton Roads Karate). The program, instructors, and community at HRK are all amazing! Mariah was my teacher all through Women Empowered and she continues to inspire me to learn all jiu jitsu I can! Great environment to learn!I was super apprehensive at the beginning but after a few classes in the Women’s Empowered class, I have really come to enjoy Jiu Jitsu and I have become more confident. I am 9 months in and just started the Gracies Combative’s class. The instructors really make the classes an open and welcoming environment regardless of whether you’re just beginning or have Jiu Jitsu background.
