Sam is knowledgeable, welcoming, and makes everyone feel like family. You can tell she loves what she does, and it shows in every part of the experience. Although we didn't do their manta ray dive this time, it looked absolutely amazing, and it's definitely on our list for our next visit! We chose Mid-Pacific Tours because we wanted a smaller group experience than the typical larger boat groups. We were not disappointed! Sam and Brianna are absolutely wonderful and we had the best time on the manta ray tour with them. The boat is comfortable and super clean. Sam and Brianna are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. We were also impressed that they include a complimentary video of the experience! We HIGHLY recommend this tour company! I had the pleasure of taking my client, who has autism and dyspraxia, to the manta tour. Captain Sam and her crew was amazing. My client had the best time and told me "that was the highlight of my trip." I can't recommend them enough. Everyone was so patient and accommodating. We had a great time with Sam and Cliff. We saw spinner dolphins and pilot whales, and my daughter had the opportunity to swim with the whales (I opted to observe from the boat). Sam was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and made the experience relaxing and fun. I loved how small and intimate the experience was. With the smaller group size we were able to have ask as many questions as possible and felt included in everything. I would definitely book with them again!

We had such a great experience with Sam on our snorkeling trip that we signed up to go out again the following night for a manta ray trip. Sam and her mate, Brianna, were knowledgeable about Hawaiian marine life, attentive, professional and a lot of fun. It was sweet to be out on the water in a smaller boat—didn’t have a “tourist” vibe and we enjoyed their suggestions too about which remote beaches we should visit later on our trip. It was a five star experience. We will look for Sam on our next trip to the Big Island.

After the night manta ray snorkeling tour we booked with another company was cancelled due to mechanical issues, that company referred us to Mid-Pacific Tours. My husband and I were on the fence about moving forward because the snorkeling conditions hadn’t been that great for a few days. The company owner and captain Sam was very honest about how the conditions hadn’t been ideal and there was never a guarantee of seeing mantas. Ultimately, however, we decided to go for it and we are SO glad we did. It was just my husband, me and our two sons (10 and 12) on the boat. Sam and Brianna gave us personalized attention, talked to the boys about sea life, looked for other animals for us to see (sharks, turtles) on the way to the manta ray area. Once there, we had close encounters with 5 or 6 manta rays who swam right up to our light bar! Brianna was in the water with us wearing fins and was able to tow us around to better positions to see manta rays (something not possible on the tours with 30 people.) She took underwater photos of the whole experience and generally worked her tail off to make the experience great. I can’t say enough about these two women and their knowledge an customer service!
