I was so unsure of sending our 7-month-old border collie here, but it was the best thing we could have done! We got Scout at 6 weeks, and he had resource guarding problems since the very beginning and was very reactive at 6 months. We had been talked with a few different positive-only trainers since we had first gotten him. I honestly think some of the things they had told us to do with him made him worse, so we decided Scout needed something more structured. Scout was initially supposed to be there for 18 days, but Scout is very stubborn and did not engage with our trainer, Jake, much at all the first week. I really appreciate that they didn’t just start the training and force Scout to do the training, which is what I think many board and trains do. They let Scout take his time to open up and trust Jake. The first week, they just had Scout on a leash sitting by Jake, and Scout was most of the time at the very end of the leash. The next week, Scout trusted Jake, and they were able to start the training. Jake gave us the option to extend his training a week, and we did so. Scout was there for 21 days. He has been graduated for 2 months now. He’s 10 months and not fixed, so still very much in the teenage stage, but we can take him to stores and parks, and he’s very well behaved. We always get compliments on how well-behaved he is for his young age. We loved working with Jake because he is not only super great at dog training, he was so good at teaching my husband and me how to continue Scout’s training at home in the videos, and then when we picked Scout up and if we have new issues or struggles with Scout, I just text or bring it up during group classes, and Jake is always super helpful and always willing to teach us! When we go to group classes, Scout still gets so excited to see Jake!

We’ve had a great experience with Innovative K9. The biggest change we’ve seen in Marty is his confidence. He is so much more comfortable and confident around both people and other dogs, and it has made a huge difference in his everyday life. We’re really grateful for the care, patience, and work the Innovative K9 team has put into him.

I had the best experience sending my sweet girl Winnie to Innovative K9 Academy. Dropping her off, I knew she'd be in good hands, though I couldn't help feeling a little nervous about sending her away.That nervousness didn't last long. Once I started receiving videos of her training sessions, I could see exactly how she was doing and how well her trainer, Jake, was treating her. Watching her progress so quickly gave me real peace of mind during a time when I was down and out and unable to care for her myself.I originally signed her up for the 18-day course, and she thrived. I received videos and photos almost daily, along with explanations of what they were working on, so I'd be ready to keep up her training once she came home. When I ended up needing her to board a bit longer after the course ended, the team kept providing maintenance training and kept me updated the whole time.Winnie is SO smart but has a LOT of energy, and I used to struggle to get her to listen in situations where she was heavily distracted. Now she's still the same fun and spirited girl, but I have real confidence that she'll listen and stay safe no matter where we are. I was especially worried she'd slide back into old habits once she came home, but that couldn't have been further from the truth.Her leash manners mattered most to me, since I was coming out of surgery and relearning to walk myself. That fact that she came home reliable on and off leash is a huge testament to the whole team, especially Jake. I've had very little issues with pulling since she's been back, and I feel safe and confident walking her—and she seems just as confident.I can't recommend Innovative K9 Academy enough. They're truly the best!!

Kai our guy has been coming here since he was a puppy his favorite place ever he loved Joseph the best he has crossed the rainbow bridge couple days ago and we’re sad we won’t be taking hour long drive there anymore with Kai his favorite ride :) they are the best if you want your dog trained and they do boarding as well

We have a 7 month Blue Heeler named Whiskey. He was extremely reactive to any distractions around our house, and was occasionally aggressively protective of food when our two youngest children were around.I found Innovative K9 through a simple google search and after a phone call with David it was readily apparent that his services are the real deal. We decided on the 18-day stay and train. Receiving videos on Whiskey’s updates during his stay and watching his progression was super cool and exciting for our family.We showed up to the transition appointment with Jake and it was like getting a new dog. Whiskey’s training is incredible and as much as he needed training so did we! We have been keeping up with everything Jake taught us and have been getting endless complements from friends that have also witnessed the transformation. Can’t recommend this enough!

We had a wonderful experience with Innovative K9 Academy. We have always had easy to train retrievers and unexpectedly found ourselves with Sunny, a puppy golden doodle, that needed to new home. We wanted a well behaved, trained dog but did not have the time to put into it to do it right. I did some research with different dog training programs and landed on IK9 for several reasons...2 friends had used them for their dogs and said great things, after speaking with David at least a couple of times, I got the impression that they truly care about the pups they train and are invested in that training long term. We also like the more immersive (18 days) nature of the training vs a weekly lesson here and there. While Sunny was at the training I lived for the daily videos that Jake, her trainer, sent. He nicknamed her Sunny Buns so everyday we looked for a new Sunny Buns video! It was so fun to see the progress she made and helped to learn HOW Jake trained her to do a down-stay, heal, to not be crazy when the vacumn is going, and she even learned how to walk on a treadmill! She went to a lake in the mountains and a field trip to Cabelas! As I had questions along the way either David, Jake, or Joe would respond via text or phone, they all knew what she was working on at the moment. These guys are the real deal when it comes to training dogs. It is obvious that they are passionate about well trained dogs and creating a strong bond and excellent communication between pup and parent. We have had Sunny back for just a week and have already had David come by for a follow up in the home, and we attended a Saturday refresher practice with 25 other IK9 Academy graduates at a park in Salt Lake, where, BTW, they knew every single dogs name. All very helpful and fun! They have trained us as well and we know our marching orders to keep up with the training. It is comforting to know that they will always be there for questions.Thank you IK9 Academy!

Our little dog has had huge anxiety. Innovative K9 has helped him gain enough confidence that his first reaction isn’t to bite. The group classes during the summer give him a controlled, yet chaotic environment environment to practice his skills and for me to learn how to support him better.
