We had a wonderful experience with Innovative K9 Academy. We have always had easy to train retrievers and unexpectedly found ourselves with Sunny, a puppy golden doodle, that needed to new home. We wanted a well behaved, trained dog but did not have the time to put into it to do it right. I did some research with different dog training programs and landed on IK9 for several reasons...2 friends had used them for their dogs and said great things, after speaking with David at least a couple of times, I got the impression that they truly care about the pups they train and are invested in that training long term. We also like the more immersive (18 days) nature of the training vs a weekly lesson here and there. While Sunny was at the training I lived for the daily videos that Jake, her trainer, sent. He nicknamed her Sunny Buns so everyday we looked for a new Sunny Buns video! It was so fun to see the progress she made and helped to learn HOW Jake trained her to do a down-stay, heal, to not be crazy when the vacumn is going, and she even learned how to walk on a treadmill! She went to a lake in the mountains and a field trip to Cabelas! As I had questions along the way either David, Jake, or Joe would respond via text or phone, they all knew what she was working on at the moment. These guys are the real deal when it comes to training dogs. It is obvious that they are passionate about well trained dogs and creating a strong bond and excellent communication between pup and parent. We have had Sunny back for just a week and have already had David come by for a follow up in the home, and we attended a Saturday refresher practice with 25 other IK9 Academy graduates at a park in Salt Lake, where, BTW, they knew every single dogs name. All very helpful and fun! They have trained us as well and we know our marching orders to keep up with the training. It is comforting to know that they will always be there for questions.Thank you IK9 Academy!

Our little dog has had huge anxiety. Innovative K9 has helped him gain enough confidence that his first reaction isn’t to bite. The group classes during the summer give him a controlled, yet chaotic environment environment to practice his skills and for me to learn how to support him better.

Our gsd mix Jetta needed a lot of work she's a super energetic puppy and we didn't have time to train her properly so we found David online and we instantly were interested. Jetta came back from her training a week ago and she is doing really good, she's a complete new dog! Ty was her trainer and he did a great job and we could tell by the videos he really liked her. I 100% recommend Innovative and Ty. I would definitely go back to them if Jetta needs more work.

Where to start? Innovative K9 Academy is incredible. We adopted Maggie- a two year old pit bull, who landed at Best Friends with an injured paw close to amputation. While she was there she became highly reactive and needed to find her forever home.She came to live with us in April and we knew our hands were full. Filled with anxiety, reactivity and aggression, we knew our hands were full. A friend who adopted a dog with similar behavior recommended David and team. I texted him immediately and got a fast response and she was off for 18 day training camp.David, Joe, Ty and team gave us the tools we needed to provide Maggie with what she needed- confidence, obedience and a structured environment. She has blossomed into the dog she was meant to be. She goes on walks everyday and we continue to reinforce everything we learned.In addition we board with Innovative K9 and have the peace of mind knowing she is safe and with a team that knows and loves her. We do the weekly dog classes and refreshers everytime we board. She is signed up for swim lessons next month!David and team helped us save Maggie’s life- I don’t know where we would be without them. Worth every penny and the best investment around. Highly recommend!

After struggling with some behavioral challenges and wanting the best for our Rottweiler (1 year old) Rowan, we found Innovative K9 Academy. From our very first conversations, we were impressed David and Joe’s communication, knowledge, and patience not just with Rowan, but with us as owners as well.Throughout the training process, Joe kept us updated with videos that were not only incredibly informative but also genuinely entertaining. We loved watching the relationship and trust he was building with Rowan, and it was clear how much he truly cares about the dogs he works with. The videos gave us confidence in the process and often left us laughing while learning something new.The transformation in Rowan has been amazing. We now have a confident, well-behaved dog, while still keeping the same goofy/doofus, lovable personality we adore. If you own a Basenji, you know exactly how independent and headstrong they can be. Before bringing our Basenji to Innovative K9, walking her was a chore. She was highly reactive, constantly tugged on the leash, and her stubbornness made it feel impossible to get through to her especially with other dogs around.Our trainer, Jake, was absolutely incredible to work with. He understood her unique breed and tailored his positive-reinforcement approach to work with her, rather than just trying to force compliance.While she is still a Basenji (meaning that signature stubbornness hasn't completely vanished), the transformation is night and day and getting better everyday. We've received the exact tools, techniques, and confidence we needed to succeed at home.Thanks to the Jake's guidance, we are consistently making progress every single day. If you are struggling with a reactive or stubborn pup, I cannot recommend Innovative K9 and Jake enough.

I can’t say enough about David and the gang. We have used their services for 10 years across 2 dogs as our little family has grown up. We wouldn’t have survived our dogs without their caring and compassionate support. They are the epitome of professionalism. Their work is so important - they give dogs and families the gift of spending a life together when it seems like it may not be possible. We consider them part of our extended family because they helped give us the family we wanted. We have 2 wonderful, big dogs that are trained so well we can take them anywhere. We love our dog family. Our most recent just walked up to us off the streets. He been taken to the shelter 3 times and adopted and returned twice. His manners were terrible, he was out of control. I wasn’t looking for a dog at the time but I said, “if we adopt this lost soul, first we go to David.” David, the kind and professional communicator he is, got him a place immediately. 3 weeks later we are no longer nervous, the dog is no longer nervous, and now we are a happy 2 dog house. These guys save dogs’ lives and repair families. They are Ruffswag angels.
