Finding the right program for your children can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when it's hard to find a place that truly understands your needs. I thought I had found the perfect program—placing her in dance class because she's always asking about dancing. I came across a place called ZDDA in Lanham, which seemed promising. When I visited to inquire about the program, I was told it was full. They mentioned that a parent might be withdrawing, so I returned later and was told there might be an opening. I even called to secure a spot before learning the class fee was $110. However, they tried to place me in a combo class—probably hip-hop, ballet, or jazz—where I was only interested in ballet for my daughter. It turned out that after filling out the registration and paying a fee, I received an invoice for $270, even though the classes hadn’t started yet. The fees included a parade fee and tutoring costs, which I wasn’t expecting. I wanted only the ballet class, and the staff agreed to reduce the fee to $125, but I realized I hadn’t been fully informed about the non-refundable registration fee until I saw a screenshot from their literature. Since our classes begin tomorrow and I haven’t even stepped inside the building, I find it unfair that they took $50 just like that. Sometimes, navigating these programs can be tricky, especially when policies seem more focused on money than supporting families. I’ll share the conversation screenshot because I believe this important information should have been communicated upfront, not only when I asked about the costs.
