We agreed to the summer camp not realizing what we were getting into. 4 weeks into the MAW summer camp program, there was safety issues arising that were not being addressed or resolved. After three of the really good instructors left the company, there was little to no adult supervision-meaning adults who actually have kids and know the dynamics of raising kids and structuring their minds (red flag). Due to fears of our child's safety (bruising, inappropriate touching from other kids, no adult supervision, questionable certification of child transportation credentials, inappropriate adult to child ratio, lack of structured learning, no workstations or tables, no real outdoor play area except for the back gravel parking lot etc-just ask) we left for a different and more structured summer program. No hard feelings personally, but a terrible business practice and model. MMA baits parents and kids to feel that they are actually climbing the ranks of the martial arts community- unfair and unsafe. This gives parents the comfort of knowing their children are safe as well as having fun while in their care. As a parent we understand children aren’t always going to have the best listening skills at first, but giving them a little support and discipline usually works and helps improve those skills. They offer outstanding summer camp programs, allowing children to go on weekly field trips to several different locations in the general area. Before/after care is also offered as well as evening classes. My personal experience has been great as my children (3 daughters) have been attending MAW Clover Hill for over 5 years and as a result has made an impact on their social skill development as well as their discipline. I am also happy to report that my beautiful wife also attends evening classes a few times per week. There isn’t another place I would trust more than Martial Arts World Clover Hill to send my sweet daughters to learn the marital craft and discipline. Less

I came in to Martial Arts off Hull st not too long ago and signed my daughter up for summer camp. Well I realized that her daycare could continue to provide her care, so I decided to stay with them instead of changing up everything. Well Jessica and me talked a lot prior to signing up. She did give me papers to sign and not ever during any of our conversations did she mention I couldn't get my money back! If so I wouldn't have signed up immediately, I would of thought about it more. I called and talked to her about having my daughter stay with her daycare and she said they have a 30 day cancelation policy and I would be fine. Again never mentioning the money was non refundable! I was there in person and she never mentioned it then either. So I canceled my plan within 5 days which was in the perimeters of her 30 she mentioned. When I got there she told me that I could cancel and then I was like okay well can I get my money back. She was like oh no I can't do that. She just said I can't give your money back and even at that moment she never elaborated on why she couldn't give me my money back, she never insinuated any rules or policies. Having me pay $155 within only 5 days is ridiculous. I am extremely upset and won't be referring anyone to this place. I will let people know how unpleasant my experience was. Less

To be an owner of an establishment for children and lack proper patience with them to the point of laying your hands on and grabbing a child that is not your own is EXTREMELY unprofessional and completely unacceptable. I spoke to the owner Jessica Cross about my almost 14-year-old wanting to try martial arts. I asked if there were other middle school students in the after-school classes. She told me there were 11. She said each day after school my son would receive an hour long martial arts lesson. I asked what the cancellation policy is if it doesn't work out. She said it was a weekly draft and just to let her know. None of this was true in my experience.My son started and it was not age-appropriate martial arts lessons. He was put in a class with very young children that were struggling to follow strict rules. He stood there while young children were put back in lines and corrected over and over. They were constantly being punished for not listening. Punishments included hitting them with the items that were meant for kicking and taking the kids outside on the hot pavement to do push-ups. Many young children would cry. Very little martial arts instruction took place.I tried to contact Jessica to see if there was a way to provide my son age-appropriate martial arts lessons. I called and left messages. I emailed both emails. I left a Facebook message. She did not return any of my calls or emails. Finally, John returned my call and I expressed my concern about this being an after-school daycare with some small amount of martial arts but not age appropriate for my son. I was paying a lot for what was not being delivered. He said my characterization of it mainly being a daycare was not wrong. I asked him to have Jessica call me. He said he would. She never called so I wrote to them that I had to cancel as this was not martial arts lessons for a teenager.To date, Jessica has never responded to any of my concerns. I had hoped to find a solution but the lack of communication and integrity from an organization that was supposed to be teaching good values was striking.I have, however, received calls almost daily since we stopped going from some company in Florida telling me that I was not paying for lessons. I told them I had cancelled because I was not getting what I had paid for. They continue to harass me to pay for lessons I have not received. I even paid for an extra week after I cancelled. If they continue to harass me, I will be seeking a refund for the dollars I paid as they did not provide the services promised.It will be interesting to see if they respond here and say something to discredit me. This wouldn't even be here if Jessica had bothered to return any of my outreach. She should do the right thing which would be apologize for the lack of communication, acknowledge that it was not a good fit, and be more forthcoming in the future with older students considering their after-school program. Additionally, she should stop the daily calls insisting I pay for services not delivered. He joined only days before school started and he attended just a couple of weeks. His presence or lack thereof did not cause them to incur any additional costs. Less

I had a summer camp contract signed and I expresses my dissatisfaction with the company and asked to chief Cross to cancel the summer camp since she would be going to a different institution. Well, chief Cross apologized for the wrongful charges and said she would cancel the summer camp contract. For my surprise, I am being charged for the summer camp that she had supposedly cancelled. I am taking legal action for this outrageous charge, and I found out that there are multiple lawsuits against the institution. Be aware about predatory business practices. Also, if the chief of the institution cannot even uphold her word and act morally, how can we expect this person to teach our children? Less
