We have lived in Houston for over 25 years. We have had to replace our fence every 7 or 8 years as the combination of heat and moisture here in Houston has caused it to quickly deteriorate. The bottoms of the vertical boards sat on the base boards and retained water. Within a few years they started to deteriorate, leaving holes along the fence line. Similarly, the ends of the vertical boards were uncovered and absorbed rainwater which started deterioration at the top. We were looking for contractor who could provide a fence that was better suited to the Houston environment.Bentwood Deck and Fence has addressed these issues and more. They install the vertical boards so that they will not sit in water even after a heavy rain. The also install a board running across the top of the fence that prevents water from soaking down the grain of the vertical boards from the top. In addition to helping preserve the fence, it gives it a much more aesthetic, finished look. Finally, they use metal rather that wooden posts which will last much longer in the moist Houston soil.The Bentwood team worked quickly and efficiently while taking care not to damage the bushes and flower beds planted along our fence line. They completed our project in just a few days.While Bentwood Deck and Fence was not the lowest bidder on our project, I fully expect that the fence they installed will last 2 or 3 times as long as those we have had in the past. We are very pleased with their work.

Bentwood Deck & Fence built and installed my parents’ fence in the Memorial City area in Houston. They had multiple neighbors involved with their adjoining properties, and my parents were pleased that Jimmy met with each of them and provided quotes, then kept everyone informed as the work proceeded. My dad said he got several bids and that Bentwood’s pricing was competitive, and that jimmy’s work was meticulous and that he did a higher quality job than he had seen anywhere else in town. The fence is built sturdy and built to last, which is important in Houston’s high humidity climate and since we get hurricanes and high wind storms. He digs the post holes deeper so the fence won’t blow down (which I’ve seen happen to friends recently when bad storms came through - the last thing you need is a blown down fence blocking your driveway after a hurricane) and he builds the fence so the rainwater runs off and does not pool, which can rather quickly rot the wood, which is what happened to my parents’ old fence before Jimmy rebuilt it, causing them to need a new fence. Definitely recommend Bentwood and Jimmy! They did a great job for a reasonable price and were a pleasure to work with.

After a wind storm took out our old ugly fence, we decided it was time to update our backyard. I’d seen glowing reviews of Jimmy’s work on my local NextDoor app, so figured we would be in good hands. We told Jimmy a little bit about our style and that we wanted a unique modern look to our fence. He had some suggestions and we loved them! He installed our fence and then later added a deck and a small gazebo-like structure that serves as a shade garden. We gave him very little direction and let him drive the design. We couldn’t be happier with his vision and craftsmanship. Jimmy is an artist in the way he can envision a space, sketch out an idea, and realize something striking and unique at the end.
