When I first reached out, I spoke with the owner, Ray, about what we wanted done on our property. We have about 5½ acres, and roughly 3 of those acres were unusable due to overgrown brush, buckthorn, and unwanted trees. It felt overwhelming trying to tackle it ourselves, so we were looking for help to reclaim and actually enjoy more of our land.Ray recommended starting with an 8-hour day, and Eric—the machine operator who came out to our property—got to work. After seeing what he accomplished in just those first 8 hours, we were blown away and immediately scheduled another full day two days later. Watching that machine work so efficiently was honestly mesmerizing!In just those two days, Eric cleared everything we had hoped for—and more. We’ve now scheduled a third day to have him move the mulch piles, remove stumps, and disc the land to finish it off.We truly can’t stop looking at our property now. What used to feel overwhelming is now open, usable land that we can enjoy and maintain. Eric accomplished more in those two days than we ever thought possible with our own equipment.Ray’s communication was excellent throughout the entire process, and Eric’s work exceeded all expectations. Staff provided a quote very quickly. Staff was professional and did a great job. I know it’s kind of hard to see how over grown it was and it’s a different time of year but its cleared and looks great!!! Would recommend and would use them for other projects.

Whitetail is the best out there! From the 1st on site visit Ray was on time and walked the project through thoroughly and put a detailed plan and budget. The day that we started the project.Doug showed up on time and worked non stop and worked like a surgeon not disturbing the mature trees and carved out trails and cleared brush out perfectly leaving a clean level trail. He worked non stop and finish the project under budget! This was the 1st project they did for me, since this went so well I am in the work to plan a major project that will also include site prep and planting.

We needed an acre or so cleared for food plots on our heavily wooded land. Called Ray, he was very nice to talk to and the communication was great throughout this process. We met Doug at our land for a walk around and a quote. He came a week later and did a fantastic job. He knew exactly what we wanted (even better than we did) and delivered on his promises. He knows his way around that machine and the tree species. He cleaned up the area very nicely and was very pleasant to work with. We felt like we were friends by the time he left. We have used the team at Whitetail Forestry multiple times on our property. They had to clear out about half an acre of buckthorn, cut down several trees, mulch them and then scrape the ground to prevent regrowth. Ray, Dawson, Doug, Dan and Christina were all great to work with. You can count on an honest and hard-working crew that will do their best to get the job done on time and with high quality. Their prices are fair and transparent. Although the complexity of our job meant that things took a little longer than we would have ideally liked, we were happy to support this wonderful local business. Highly recommended!

We have a very long property against woods that had encroached over the years. Dawson with Whitetail Forestry turned it into mulch within two hours. There is a patch of elms that he managed to wiggle in and out of without harming the trees. We've gain 8 to 10 feet of our lawn back from invasive buckthorn. Along the way, Dawson was great about calling when he had a cancellation and coming about a week after we first contacted him. The price was cheaper than the goat farm I looked into, too. And since it was all turned into mulching, using a small machine, I still feel good environmentally.

So glad I asked for a quote. Courteous, professional, reasonably priced. So happy with my newly cleared fence line. I am surrounded by trees on 3 sides and the buckthorn and other invasives were making it impossible to mow close to the fence. They also removed several stumps in my pastures. 10/10. Ray and Doug are great to work with and we are so happy with the results that Whitetail Forestry brought to our property! We are in Lake County, Illinois and bought our land 5 years ago and have tried to get a handle of the Buckthorn near the house but still had close to 2 acres of just buckthorn. Doug gave us back a piece of our yard that was so overwhelming to do by hand. The field of buckthorn would be nearly impossible to do with chainsaws but their machine ripped right through it! Ray and Dawson both arrived when they said, completed all work in the budgeted time, without any surprises. Rain caused a delay, and they promptly rescheduled.
