I found Newma wellness when I was looking for a lactation consultant. Morgan, the founder, was highly recommended by the hospital I delivered at. I was so impressed by their facility and the care I received that I switched my baby’s pediatric care to this office. Morgan helped me through so many obstacles as a new breastfeeding mom. I highly recommend any new moms to come here, they care about mom and baby, not just the baby. Less

The staff and providers at Newma are fantastic! Our whole family is so well taken care of here. From pediatric and adult primary care services to lactation support, chiropractic, and craniosacral therapy, they do it all - and do it well! Less

First off everyone was friendly and kind to a certain point. My midwife recommended them to me and I like the “values” that they had. There lactation counselor made things complicated where I felt like there “suggestions” were unnecessary. They did however recommend a wonderful place for my son tongue tie that fixed the majority of his problems. Through them I found a new LC that made things a lot simpler for me.My son recently got sick so I gave Newma another try. During that visit I was told twice that they won’t accept my son as a patient if he doesn’t do a wellness check up with them in the future. (We believe if your child isn’t sick they shouldn’t see a doctor, why fix something that isn’t broken type of situation, and for financial reasons). After the visit I paid the balance in full thinking that was it. A few days later Newma changed my account for an outstanding balance without even telling me. I call the receptionist and she informed me that it was a “new patient” fee because they haven’t seen him in over a year so I had to pay it again. NO ONE told me that. Not when I made the appointment, during, or after when I paid at the front desk. Then for a THIRD time I was told they won’t see my son if I don’t do a wellness check up.I wanted this place to work out. But them charging my account without telling me why and being super pushy about seeing my child when he’s not sick left a sour taste in my mouth. Less

We decided to try Newma for our 2 oldest kids just to get a feel for options in the area and see if we preferred them to the larger healthcare chain that our other kids are already established at. The woman working the front desk was friendly and the space was very clean and nice. However, the actual interactions with the nurse seemed overall cold, both with my kids and myself. I also brought up a couple concerns that I felt were noted, but not really addressed. I felt more like we were just being asked questions in order for them to fill out the obligatory paper work and we wouldn’t be viewed as anything, but just another patient there. Ultimately, we decided sometimes waiting a little longer for an appointment at the larger doctor’s office we currently attend or sometimes having to utilize urgent care if we can’t be seen same day, but feeling genuinely listened to, getting personalized care and like our kids are being connected with outweighed choosing an office because they seemed more natural minded and had quicker available appointments. My daughter and I have been patients here for about two and a half months and I must say that I love the quality of care they give to both of us. Their waiting room and exam rooms are truly beautiful, calming, clean and and well stocked with diaper's and wipes if we need them. This is a level care I haven't seen at other practices, and it shows they are really paying attention to the details. All the staff from the office staff, to the nurses and providers are also wonderful, and I feel comfortable asking questions without feeling silly or like I am keeping them from their work. I also love that it is place where we can address multiple problems, be it breast feeding, pediatric care, or care for myself, and if they don't offer a specific service, they are good about referring you out to other specialists they have had good relationships with. Loveliest people and kind, comprehensive care, but they do not offer vaccinations. We were very surprised by this and wish that was communicated up front. We went all the way through our 2 month visit and were shocked when we asked for his vaccinations to be told they don't provide those services. We would have established care elsewhere had we known upfront that this was not available, but it wasnever communicated. Overall, it creates a burden on the client having to find another place to get vaccinated and also a cost since the places I called will not vaccinate without a well-visit (which we already used at Newma). Newma did offer the suggestion to go to the county health dept for vaccinations, but the health dept. does not accept our insurance. Wish we could have stayed with them because we really loved the people, the facility, and location. Update- Most courteous service. They called multiple places on my behalf to try to find a place that would offer just the vaccines, and provided another solution. We are sad to be transferring care. Thank you Newma. This clinic is NOT for anything beyond pediatrics, if that. The “Dr.” is an NP. There is NO MD on staff. I really thought we found the perfect practice, but after months of trying to work with Dr Griffin. I’ve gotten nowhere in my diagnosis other than a blanket “here’s what you have, there’s nothing I can do.” The NP has refused to explore other referrals, blood work or anything additional to help me towards healing. I’ve been left with starting over at a new clinic and wasted months of valuable time. Absolutely shame. Less

I personally had bad care with primary care and June Griffin. I am 3 months post partum and I felt so unheard and like I really had to FIGHT to be believed of the medical issues I’ve been having. At every turn I was argued with. I was told The physical therapist I was referred to by my OB wouldn’t take my insurance, they did. I didn’t need an MRI of my back, my physical therapist had to argue I did and turns out my lumbar spine has bulging disks. For almost 9 months I’ve been in 8-9 of 10 pain I’ve exhausted all methods of pain management as a WLS surgery patient I can’t have NSAIDS and built a tolerance to Tylenol. I was given gabapentin at best and it made me ill. All test results were revealed to me via. Quick message in the patient portal. Not exactly how I wish to be told I need to be referred to a spinal surgeon or that my blood levels are out of wack… I would not even be told referral were in or where just get a message saying it going to expire x amount of time if I don’t contact them when I didn’t know they were in. I’d atleast would have liked a call about results after I confided my mother was disabled with several spinal surgeries throughout my childhood. I was blown off when I legitimately asked if any part of it was hereditary. June argued that I didn’t have PCOS because my testosterone levels weren’t high, that’s never been a symptom for me but more than that that is a stereotype…my mother and grandmother both have it but most importantly I had been diagnosed by three OBs and an Reproductive Endocrinologist and needed fertility treatments to become pregnant with my daughter after 9 years… I was blown off at absolutely every single turn and unheard. I know this because now I have a new primary doctor who prescribed actual pain medication and I now am starting to make improvements in physical therapy because of it which I have two physical therapists that were stunned at the significant change all because I was prescribed real medication. I am finally sleeping at night after many months in terrible pain. I had to BEG to just get Gabapentin. My new doctor also is taking my PCOS seriously as most women don’t have high testosterone as a symptom. I have excess hair, infertility, history of irregular periods, weight issues, PCOS belly, annovulation, cystic ovaries, male pattern baldness for the short list of it… June was not even willing to hear me. As a woman of color it SUCKS not being treated with simple dignity. I was actually in horrible pain my whole pregnancy and post partum no Gabapentin wasn’t enough and with two small children I couldn’t function daily as I was in so much pain at night I couldn’t function daily not sleeping. We have had to pay for extra child care because of the pain. The care here made me feel less than a human and it kind of just adds to the extensive medical trauma I have had from providers. Your duty is to listen and to care and collaborate with patients. I’ve experienced from pregnancy, child birth and post partum the bias that women of color don’t experience pain as much as white counterparts from several medical providers. This needs to change. I felt like I wasn’t taken as a credible person at all. I’m a licensed social worker for the state, I have a masters degree I am by no means an a bum and the fact I feel the need to write that to “prove myself”. I’m glad I am finally being heard and addressed with my new provider. Less

We were referred to Newma wellness center by our pediatric dentist and chiropractor. Our little one (LO) was diagnosed with a tongue and lip tie. Prior to tire revision, our dentist wanted us to see lactation as well as a craniosacral therapist. Once we were referred, I called the office knowing we were about to go into a holiday weekend. No one answered my calls or returned my voicemail for over a week. Upon scheduling we found out that we would have to pay out of pocket for both the craniosacral therapy and lactation. Out of pocket for both of those appointments was going to be close to $300. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to have the craniosacral therapy done, but we did see lactation. We ended up seeing Mara. My doula was able to attend the appointment with me and it was super helpful as she was able to comment on things she had witnessed or helped me to remember. Upon walking in, Bailey at the front desk was kind. We were quickly called back for our appointment. Mara was nice but also felt hesitant. I’m a first time mom but had been at the breastfeeding game for several weeks. I felt very judged when I had mentioned the type of bottles our child preferred and that we combo feed. Mara began to speak about a specific type of bottle she recommended and why it was better than the bottle our little one likes. *Disclaimer these recommended bottles they have for you to try are $35 a piece.* We then proceeded with the weighted feed. We did find out that our LO wasn’t able to transfer enough breast milk and that my flange size had changed. Knowing that my child wasn’t able to transfer enough was frustrating and disheartening. I wasn’t given any advice for protecting/increasing my supply. She was not as hands on as I would have expected her to be. There was no point in which she touched me. She only touched my child to examine if there were any ties (which we confirmed at the beginning of the appointment there were). At the end of the appointment I had mentioned that I was going to be returning to work and asked her to recommend an affordable wearable pump, as I’m in healthcare and being chained to an outlet isn’t possible. I had mentioned that I purchased a willow go and didn’t like it. She kept recommending the Willow go and the Elvie. I felt like I wasn’t listened to as Elvie’s are extremely pricey and she was recommending one that I expressed dislike with. Upon leaving my appointment, I felt more discouraged than when I entered the appointment. Less

Dr. June is super nice, no nonesense kind of doctor and I am very happy with her. Lastly, they have an amazing chiropractor that rents space and did phenomenal work with my baby and me! Teresa, who is at the front desk is so sweet and has taken my fussy baby to hold while I was getting my adjustment!! Morgan has done an amazing job with creating a beautiful space and a holistic, connected approach. All of the different staff members had access to what the others had done and actually read through it before my appointments. Everyone clearly cares about what they do, and in turn you and your child. This is what healthcare SHOULD be. This is a fantastic business to support and help grow. I came here to find something different. To not feel rushed through an appointment and to find someone who was understanding and listened to me. I also was looking for a place that when I have to bring my kids with me it doesn't seem like an inconvenience to everyone. That is exactly what I found. I didn't feel rushed, my needs were met, and I was heard and understood. I love the care of the nurse and the doctor. My kids played while we waited in the lobby and when we were pulled back there were more activities and things for kiddos to do. This is such a great and family oriented place. Breastfeeding is a beautiful but intensely challenging experience as a new mom, and I felt so supported! A few days later, I discovered how painful clogged milk ducts could be, so I reached out and scheduled an appointment with Morgan for ultrasound therapy. Let me tell you, the difference was night and day and I was able to get some relief while also making our baby happier because it helped the milk start flowing better again. I truly think I would have ended up on antibiotics with mastitis had this resource not been available. Morgan is amazing. She was my lactation consultant when my son was only 7 hrs old, and had checked in on us from time to time throughout the first several months. Around month 4-5 I had some issues with my sons growth (according to my doctors growth chart) and there was concern that I was not producing enough breast milk for my baby. I was stressed out about it for two weeks as my son hated the taste of formula and I needed to try introduce it to him slowly. I finally revisited with Morgan and she put my heart and mind to rest as we weighed my baby and found that he was tracking right where he needed to be according to his birth weight and where he was to be at by 5 months. Morgan was the 4th lactation consultant I saw but I wish she had been the first! After having latching issues in the hospital following birth, we were using a nipple shield to feed and could not latch without it. Feeds were 45 minutes and baby and I were both exhausted. I reached out to Morgan with goals of weaning off the nipple shield and reducing feeding time. Her exam was SOO thorough compared to the others and she gave me so much helpful information for myself and baby. After one session of CST and a body vacation, baby latched without the nipple shield and we have been free from it since! I was over the moon! I could not have made it this far into my breastfeeding journey without Morgan and her recommendations. I also love that she has followed up with me to check on baby and I. I had my third baby and a week into nursing, found he wasn’t getting enough milk. My pediatrician recommended I start pumping and give my baby a bottle of breast milk following nursing. After my baby had his first bottle, he refused to nurse and I had to start exclusively pumping. I had successfully breastfed my two previous children for a year and a half, so this was all new to me. After meeting with three different lactation consultants, two that were recommended by my pediatrician, I was referred to Morgan. By this time, I was hopeless that my baby would ever return to breastfeeding. Morgan did a thorough evaluation of my baby and recommended a few different specialists as well as some at home exercises. After following through with recommendations from specialists and Morgan, who all communicated throughout the entire process, we are again exclusively breastfeeding and baby is gaining weight appropriately. Morgan and her team saved our breastfeeding journey. It brings me to tears every time I remember how hopeless I was at my first visit with her. If you are having any issues at all related to breastfeeding, Morgan should be your next call! Less
