Canine Moxy

This was my second year doing snake avoidance training with my dog, Poppy, through Canine Moxy and once again it exceeded expectations. Kris Tait, the trainer was extremely knowledgeable and patient — he spent real time with both of us, helping me understand what was happening at every step. His approach with Poppy was calm, clear, and effective, and you could tell he genuinely cares about getting it right and keeping dogs safe. The course also included a thorough and eye-opening education session led by Brent Ormond of Snakes of Hays County, who is an expert on native Texas snakes and a seasoned snake wrangler. Brent broke down what we needed to know about venomous snakes in the area — how to identify them, where they tend to show up, how they behave, and what to watch for. It was direct, informative, and incredibly helpful. You can tell Brent knows his stuff and knows how to communicate it in a way that sticks.Brent and his team of trained, certified snake wranglers were on-site and actively working with live snakes while Kris focused on guiding the dogs. Everyone was professional and clearly experienced, and the safety measures in place were strong and reassuring.By the end of the session, I felt much more confident — both in Poppy’s ability to recognize and avoid snakes, and in my own understanding of how to keep her safe. If you live anywhere snakes might be an issue, this training is more than worth it. Clear instruction, expert knowledge, and a team that knows what they’re doing from start to finish.Highly recommended.
