Not only did they provide detailed estimates of our needs but walked us through the entire process from permitting to activation. We've had the solar array functional for about 1 month now and we couldn't be happier with it's performance. Not only are we covering ALL of our daily power needs but we are generating extra to get us through the darker days of winter. Since our utility, PVREA allows us to "bank" the excess power we anticipate minimal-to-zero monthly bills from here on out. I called Alt E to talk to them about a true off grid solar solution. I was told that they don't do off grid systems. I then proceeded to ask a few questions to see if maybe the could still help me design and sell me equipment for my system. I was told in a very rude way that I didn't know what I was talking about and that was the reason they quit doing off grid systems is because people like me who don't know anything.I am not sure why they don't do "off grid" systems and I am not sure why they refused to help me, but they definitely lost a customer that was ready to purchase equipment. My ground mount solar array has been up and running for a month now, and I couldn’t be more pleased.The team at Alt E Wind and Solar were on-site for the site survey just a few days after I contacted them. They understood all my requirements and they were up-front about potential risks (like underground rocks). I had their proposal the same day. I got several other proposals, from both local and distant companies. All of the proposals had similar prices. No other company gave me the confidence I felt while dealing with Alt E.Alt E handled the permitting with the county and Poudre Valley REA. All I did was provide a few signatures.They started construction ahead of schedule. When they did discover underground rock, we discussed our alternatives and quickly decided on a plan (involving a jack hammer) that added just a day to the schedule. Our experience with Alt-E Wind and Solar was perfect from start to finish. We was given several company names from PVREA, who said these are companies that are reliable. We contacted several and although we thought all the companies would be good, we especially liked dealing with Rick Pike who was very friendly and explained everything in detail. Even though the proposed components were a little more expensive, I liked using the highest quality German solar panels, as well as individual micro-inverters on each panel, all of which had outstanding warranties. Rick explained to us not to shoot too far over estimated kWh needs since these would not be cost effective. Also, we have the ability to add panels if needed once we get a good look at future usage (we are in a new home). Nick Pike coordinated the installation and was just like Rick in that he was friendly, explained everything in detail, was always available and communicated with us liberally throughout the process which involved a few delays due to weather. We always knew what was happening. The installation crew members of Lars, Dylan and Henry were friendly and very competent. They installed the system very quickly weather permitting. The electricians were also friendly, competent and quick. Tony at PVREA was very responsive and came the next morning after our system was completed to switch out the meter to a solar meter. Setting up the Enlighten monitoring system was easy and we are learning how to use it now. Overall, we are very pleased with our system and the entire process thus far.
