I was out of country at the time so my daughter called MasterCraft to help fix the issue. I have a rental property where the door was going part way down and then reopening and had to push the button a few times for it to properly close. I was out of country at the time so my daughter called MasterCraft to help fix the issue. They looked at the door and said the springs were incorrect and gave a repair estimate of ~$1200 including cables, rollers, bearings (just about everything) and also gave me an estimate for a brand new door replacement for ~$3,000. None of this sounded right to me so I checked my old invoices and found that this company REPLACED the garage door springs a few years ago with the so-called wrong springs and they were still under warranty. I rescheduled an appointment when I returned and had them look at the door again with me there. I explained the issue that the door was intermittently going part way down and then reopening and one had to click the button a few times for it to stay closed. The tech inspected the door and this time and he gave me an estimate of ~$1,000 (minus the door springs that were under warranty). I just had them replace the springs that were still under warranty since the other items I could do (rollers, weatherstrip) or items that didn't look like they needed replaced. The tech said that the spring replacement would fix the issue of the door not properly closing. After the tech left, the door had the same issue of going part way down and then reopening. I released the garage door from the opener by pulling on the rope and then tested the opener without the door. The opener was only going part way down the track and then back to home position. The issue the whole time was in the opener and not the door. I went and bought a new opener and installed it and it has been working just fine for the last week. I called the company and spoke to one of the Supervisors to explain what had happened. I realize that sometimes things happen but it's sad that the wrong springs were originally installed and that 2 different technicians came out and were unable to properly diagnose the opener issue. So I spent about $50 for a trip fee and had my springs replaced under warranty and then had to fix the issue myself by replacing the door opener. Less
