What did I pay $2K for in this economy.. zero communication, zero follow through - just taking money, destroying property, and leaving. I thought your motto is “Customer Service is our #1 priority”.Called Tri-State tree service to trim up 2 residential oak trees at my house - hoping to get rid of dead limbs and trim up low-hanging branches. Corey came out to do the consultation promptly and provided great service and information.The only issues arose during the actual service. We were told the crew would use mats to keep the equipment from damaging the grass, rope lines to lower branches, and FPL would turn off my power since the trees were being trimmed around power-lines. None of this happened. The longer I looked, the more damage I found. Shed damage, fence and grass gouges, post and additional fence damages, I can’t close my gate at all. We have reported the damages to Corey who forwarded the information. Time will tell how it is handled… I will update my review with the results. Less

In a few days the workers were able to come back and take the tree down and they did it quickly and efficiently. On one of their cuts they were surprised by a wood duck who come flying out of the cut limb while they were lowering it. It had a nest with seven eggs in it. They cleaned up all the limbs and everything was moved by the next day. We were very impressed with their work and we will use Tri State Tree Service again. Thank you so much guys! Less

However, a mid-job debris removal was coordinated and it was understood by the tree cutting crew he would return with an empty dump truck for the rest of the debris. He did return, but to only load up the bobcat and leave at 3:30 pm. He told the tree cutters he hadto go home. This miss-communication caused unnecessary extra work for them. However, next morning, Shawn came to the rescue(different guy from previous day). Kudos and big shout out to Shawn. He came early and did a great job cleaning up. If you use Tri-state, ask for Shawn for debris pick-up. This company needs more like him. My tree cutting crew and stump grinder was exceptional as well. I received a call from somebody's personal cell phone who argued that I was never told it was at 11AM but that it was to be between 1 and 4 PM. Well they arrived at 4PM but stated they were too hot and tired and asked if they could return at 8:30AM on Wednesday. They arrived about 11AM. They told me they would not "drop" the limbs. I have a nice suburban lawn in Pace and take great pride in keeping it looking nice. While they were working I could feel the earth shake as limbs were dropped and they damaged my turf. Also they stacked the debris on my lawn and I knew if it was not picked up immediately my lawn would be damaged. My wife and I each called them on Thursday and told them we wanted it removed ASAP and each time the person who took our call promised to get the word out to the pickup crew and that they would confirm. Of course they never called back. On Friday we again each called and my wife was told they would try to get out on Saturday. We told them we were going to withhold some portion of payment if our lawn was further damaged. And again, nobody showed up on Saturday and nobody called us back. On Monday, first thing, we called and complained about the debris sitting there not being picked up (it has now been sitting there for five days). I received a call later that morning and they started to tell me that it would be picked up Tuesday ... well, I lost it and yelled at the Tri-State representative (with a Foley location given on the representative's phone number) and I told them "You WILL pick this up today!" And they did, but when the pickup truck and equipment arrived, the operator had called his boss to complain about the manner in which it was left on the lawn. I live on a culdesac on there was plenty of room to have left the debris on the street. Anyway, the debris equipment operator had to extend his oil leaking equipment over my lawn. It was not a large oil spot but it just added insult to injury. And then there was the stump grinding ... they must have called three times to tell me the stump grinder was scheduled but he arrived days later, on Thursday I believe. The grinder operator did a decent job of cleaning up but my wife and I had to get out and use our leaf blowers to blow the debris the operator missed in his cleanup ... off of our front porch and areas where it was in the lawn. On Friday of the second week, my wife and I made a visit to the Mobile Hwy location and explained all of this in detail to the Sales Manager. We also presented an estimate from another contractor to replace the damaged lawn. The estimate was for $1200. The Tri-State invoice was $2,500. The sales manager came out to the house to see the lawn for himself and made no attempt to talk to us while he was there. He sent an email saying that it looked like the lawn was coming along nicely. Which was BS. If they had given some discount on the bill, I would not be so angry about their service, but they did nothing. Also, they could have bought some sod and replaced the damaged areas for much less than the $1200 estimate which included cutting and removing the damaged sod. Very, very poor communications. I understand we all have cell phones but receiving calls from Foley and Birmingham rather than from Tr-State Tree Service seems a bit cheap. Normally I do not answer calls from numbers I do not recognize but I had to be vigilant. And again - not one thing happened on the schedule they communicated to me! Less

They've lied about coming to clean up their mess on multiple occasions, and don't return phone calls. My mother was quoted a price that included stump grinding however, James Winchester didn't add it to the contract which I believe was done on purpose because of her age. My mom trusted his word and didn't read the contract then found out after they breached the contract that it wasn't added to the contract so they won't honor their agreement. James even admitted that it was his error but no one has returned to grind the stump. And, he didn't rewrite the contract correcting his mistake. My mother mentioned that they damaged our wooden fence the day of service which was acknowledged by a crew member but he would never have admitted to damaging our brick wall if my mother hadn't seen him do it because they never mentioned it. They fixed the fence the same day and said they would fix the brick wall when they returned to clean up the debris the next day. No one ever showed up on Friday or Saturday nor did they call to let my mom know the crew member wasn't coming. When my mom reached out to the company she was told worker had been ill. If they knew that why didn't they inform my mom no one was coming? She sat and waited the entire day and never heard a word. When she called on Monday they were apologetic and said a crew would be coming to remove the debris mid week but no one came or called. The following Saturday a crew was supposed to come to remove the debris but it's been nearly two weeks and NOTHING has been done. My mother called the company again and they offered her $300 to find someone to fix our brick wall. What nerve. My mother refused because it's not her responsibility to find someone to repair it. My mom was told that the company is backed up with debris removal but that's not her problem. They shouldn't have accepted the job knowing that they couldn't fully perform their duties. I called on 7/9/24 after my mom had called the company and spoke to Frankie (if that's his real name since I don't trust anyone at the company) who stated that the computer showed crew members were coming the following day to grind the stump which would cost $149.99 before taxes. I told him he was crazy because my mom wasn't paying a dime for stump grinding. I informed him that they had until the end of the week to remove the debris or l'd be contacting the BBB, the Local and Sate DAs Offices, and the Home Builder's Association, State Licensing Board, and making a claim against their bond. Then Frankie stated that Ricky's crew would be coming the next morning to remove all the debris. I didn't believe him since first he said we were scheduled for stump removal but when I refused to pay $149.99 plus tax he changed it to debris removal. We haven't even been able to get our lawn cut in the back or do anything else because of the debris. Tri State was promptly paid so I'm wondering if their unprofessionalism is racially motivated. I was very pleased with Tri State. From the guys that did the limb trimming to the clean up all was done perfectly and quickly. One of the limbs took a weird bounce and damaged part of my wood fence. One of the guys immediately went to the store and got a couple new fence boards and had it fixed good as new before they even left. Also I felt the cost was very reasonable.... More

I had a huge pecan tree cut down that was close to my garage. The 3 guys did a very professional job taking the tree down and stacking it next to the driveway. They cleaned the area around the tree and left. About an hour later a big truck came by and picked All the parts and pieces up and hauled them off. The only thing left to do is grind the stump and they are going to do that on Monday. ... More
