A year ago BootcampSE16 got me off the comfort of my sofa. The club managed to change my habits for good. I feel much more agile and less of a couch potato. The outdoor sessions are great for the soul, body, and mind. I have just returned from the annual BootcampSE16&BR2 Fitness Retreat in sunny Spain. It was the most perfect time away from the big smoke and a stressful job. The 5 day trip with 15 Bootcampers was perfectly designed with our wellbeing in mind. We had fun training right on the beach and also on the grounds of our massive villa, we did a hike around the Vineyards of D.O Penedés, wine tasting at the Pinord Cellar, a visit to historic Tarragona, and Spa time - relaxing massages, sauna, hot tub and much more. Our host, Steph, gave it her all to make this a memorable time for us. Nothing was too much for her. She definitely got the balance right and made this a unique experience for all who came. Add a like minded group of people from all walks of life who all got on really well, tasty local food prepared by our private chef Ricky, an open wine cellar stocked with any drink the heart desires, a massive outdoor pool, a ping pong table, a pool table, a tennis court, and you can imagine what a fantastic time we all had. Without this group I probably would have fell back into bad habits as previous has shown. What I love most is the variety offered by the different trainers on each day of the week: you can focus on cardio, strength or a mixture of both by picking and choosing your weekly sessions on the app. Honestly, joining has made me feel fitter, happier and more connected to my local community, meeting all sorts of different brilliant people from the area and making use of one of London's most underrated parks (and views!). Originally there was a bit of a component of wanting to shed weight for my wedding, but quite quickly it became part of my precious "me time" and instead of just wanting to lose weight quickly I found myself inspired to be stronger, fitter and healthier.I feel so well in the sessions: I laugh, I challenge myself, I sometimes hurt myself but it's the only place where I don't think of anything other than what I'm doing in the sessions - probably because I'm mainly busy trying to catch my breath 😂Since joining, I have never missed a session and that's certainly something I had never done before. I've been sick, I've been injured, I've had rubbish days but I always attended and I was always happy I did because my mood shifts completely during the sessions.I am so very grateful to Steph and the team for the great job that they do but also for helping me find a passion I didn't know I had in me for exercise. I joined Bootcamp SE16 at the end of February and it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself! There is such a great variety of training sessions available throughout the week, each suitable for different fitness levels, and different membership options depending on how much you'd like to train. The trainers are all extremely knowledgeable, and each session is so well organised and prepared, you really feel everyone's passion for it! When I first joined I was extremely unfit having not done much exercise in the past couple of years but I was never made to feel out of place - to the contrary, every trainer was extremely careful, making sure that I'm doing the exercises correctly and encouraging me to give it my best. I absolutely love that the sessions are all outdoors and Stave Hill is such an excellent location for it, and clearly very carefully selected! The equipment available for the sessions is also extremely varied and there's something new to try every time. There is also an excellent community spirit and everyone is really friendly and welcoming, cheering you on and helping you out. We often train in small teams or groups which adds to the fun.To help my motivation and training routine, I also joined the 6-week accountability programme, skillfully coached by Steph (the bootcamp founder). Steph is one of the kindest, most compassionate people I've ever met and she's so knowledgeable, not just about fitness but also about nutrition and well being. It's absolutely clear that she puts in so much love and care into the Bootcamp and helping each and every member achieve their goals. She set up my macros on My Fitness Pal, and coached me on tracking my food, getting the right nutrition, improving my sleep routine, concentration and hydration. She would check in with me each week, helping me if I struggled with anything, and giving me invaluable tips on moving forward. She even suggested some excellent recipes to suit my vegan diet, and a shopping list of essential items! Steph's bootcamp sessions are also excellent, quite challenging but also fun, and she really goes the extra mile, to make sure everyone is doing the exercises right and giving it their best.I could go on but I'll just finish by saying this: Bootcamp SE16 *really* isn't your average bootcamp - it is SO much more than that! For me, it has been a truly life changing experience and I am so pleased that I found it. For the first time I'm enjoying sticking to a workout routine, and while I still have some way to go to improve my fitness levels, I come out of each session feeling like I've accomplished a lot. Most of the people that are part of the bootcamp have been going for years, which clearly speaks volumes, as do the 5* reviews. All instructors are really motivating, fun and work hard to make sure everyone works out in good form and pushes themselves fully every session. I originally started my journey having personal training sessions with Ellie and she pushed me hard and helped me achieve my press up goal. I then did the 6week accountability program in January and this was excellent. Steph put blood sweat and tears into this program and I’m so grateful for all the knowledge, support and tips she shared. There are people there of every shape and size, all fitness abilities, with all sorts of previous injuries - the trainers tailor it to every ability & injury, push you as hard as they need to but also know when to tell you to take a break. Finally, it is COVID SAFE. Steph (the owner) and all the trainers are so hot on this. Class numbers are limited, they only do it in large spaces, no partner work that involves touching, we are always social distaned (the only time the trainers do yell at you is to tell you to space out) and they are strictly abiding by all the government rules. I usually get bored at gyms as I prefer to practice team sports...but in the last year I had to avoid playing football in order to save me from injuries...and then my wife registered me to the Bootcamp Se16 trial as a gift...and I just loved it! You can have fun while doing a wide range of exercises for your entire body and you can adapt the intensity based on your fitness level. I love the spirit of the sessions, all members are supporting each other and no one is showing off or making you feel uncomfortable. Absolutely the best thing I've chosen to do in life! This Bootcamp is not a dismotivating smelly boring locked indoors gym. Stephanie & the team makes it fun, they push us without screaming or been annoying. Stephanie always check on us asking how is everything and keep the motivation. I moved to Canada Water last year, and I was looking for different sports groups to join. I found bootcamp se16, which was perfectly convenient for me as I lived around stave Hill. I took the six weeks trial, and it was amazing. You are up to your own pace, but the trainers keep an eye on you and know you by your name. You get to push yourself to beyond what you thought your limits. I enjoyed every session. It was like a social-exercise, where you get to make friends and share the experience of burning calories and building muscles with other trainees. On you first few sessions, everyone welcomes you, and talks you through the different sessions, but you get to have your own experience. I recommend you try all sessions, and then pick the sessions that suits your time. P.S. If you stopped going to the sessions, you are guaranteed that Stephanie will get in touch with you, and encourages you to come back again. Bootcamp SE16 helped me to shave 2 minutes from my Saturday parkrun. I even have developed the mental state that I'm ready to take my muscles to bigger challenges. I did my first 60 miles bike ride. Few times, I ran back from work to stave hill (around 6 miles) to catch a bootcamp session. Less

They also give alternative exercises for advanced people and beginners and they will always ensure you have alternatives if you have an injury. Being someone who easily gives up on exercise when I’ve only got myself to rely on, the group environment really works for me and means I give 10 times more. She and her other instructors provide excellent workouts for people of all fitness levels, and each one is different from the next! You never feel like you’re doing the same workout twice. You can ramp it up or modify your way through the workout and Steph is there to encourage you the whole time, and give good form cues. I love the workouts and the sense of community of SE16 Bootcamp! Bootcamp is different to any other classes I have been to. It's great as the workouts are varied with different trainers on different days all offering their own style of training. They all work you to your ability, challenging you to improve a little bit more each week. They are all conscientious and ensure you know the correct techniques so you don't injure yourself. It was fun but also tough and Ksenia really cares that everyone is doing the exercises right. I think that this is a perfect way to exercise while being on maternity leave and looking after a baby. I would highly highly recommend bootcamp to other mums out there as it's also a great 1hr escape from the daily grind at home and it has given me more energy most importantly. I have recently terminated my gym membership as the cost of unlimited seasons at bootcamp per month is half of what i was paying monthly at the gym saves cash as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great work out by a great trainer for a great price. Less

Eventually after about two months of hearing about it non-stop I gave in and went to give it a try, mainly just to get some peace! Now it's three months later and I couldn't imagine not having Bootcamp in my life. I honestly never thought I would actually enjoy working out, but Steph and the rest of the group she whips into shape every week are some of the nicest people I've met, and they make you just keep wanting to go back! It sounds cheesy and I would have laughed it off a few months ago if people said to me that I would enjoy doing a bootcamp, but I absolutely do!! I feel healthier, happier and have a whole load of new friends in the process! If you are thinking about it even a little, I highly recommend giving it a go!! Less

In a moment of rare bravery and fed up with my mummy tummy and wobbly bits, I sent an email to Bootcamp SE16 and said 'I think I'd like to come but I've had 2 babies and I'm really unfit and worried about not being able to keep up, and, and, and. I was secretly hoping for a reply saying 'no this isn't for you, just stay at home and eat biscuits' but Steph assured me all fitness levels are welcome, everybody has to start somewhere and to just come and give it a try. I have to admit, halfway through session 1 I did consider just running away and never showing my face at Stave Hill again but I got through it with encouragement from Steph and the other more experienced bootcampers and the next day despite aches in places I never knew existed, I booked a block of sessions. I am now in my 3rd month of Bootcamp and for the first time ever I have actually stuck at an exercise programme, I would even go as far to say as I enjoy it. I still have a long way to go but my fitness levels have already increased, I have more energy, my clothes fit better and my body confidence is increasing as I start to feel more like me again and less like a wobbly mummy who wants to blend into the background. I attend both the yummy mummy sessions in the mornings (buggies are welcome) which is a really friendly group, we still work hard (don't be fooled by the cute babies) and since returning to work have been attending some of the evening and weekend sessions which I feel are pushing me even harder. If I can do it, anyone can - I am a busy working mummy of 2 little boys and I could easily tell myself I don't have the time but I just make the time, somewhere in my week, for myself. Your body will be around a lot longer than that expensive handbag, invest in yourself! Less

Steph uses a variety of exercises (squats press ups and burpees) and training aids (from tyres to "battle ropes" to sandbags and "THE HILL") to push you to that body you have always wantedI have been going to boot camp about 6-weeks and have lost almost a stone and half and feel stronger, fitter, faster and that's all down to Stephanie and my fellow bootcampers who offer support and encouragement.its great value for money it doesn't feel like its a chore to get there and it really is fun so give it a shot.
