Dr. McAulliffe informed me that I had problems with my lower, mid, and upper spine (after he took some x-rays), and recommended chiropractic adjustments three times a week for a year!After the first, second, and third adjustments, I experienced more issues.Previously, I could sit for over 8 hours at my office chair. After the adjustments, I could not sit for even an hour due to significant pain in my lower back. I used to be able to walk and use the cardio machine for over an hour, but post-adjustment, walking became difficult due to sharp pain in my right leg and discomfort in my left testicle. I did not have any pain below my neck or sensations of numbness in my lower back and right leg, but these issues appeared after Dr. McAulliffe's adjustments.After three sessions, I took the x-rays from his office and consulted my primary care physician and physical therapist/lumbar spine specialist (referred by my primary care physician).To my surprise, all those professionals reacted similarly after seeing the x-rays and hearing what Dr. McAulliffe had told me - (When I told Dr. McAulliffe about my new problems, he said, "That's alright. Your brain is trying to learn the new way of adjustments"). Those professionals smiled, and shook their heads and told me that they don't see any problems with my spine that caused my mid back-pain.I have been undergoing physical therapy for over a month now to address problems I didn't have before Dr. McAulliffe's adjustments.I am writing this review to prevent others from being misled as I was. In hindsight, I should have recognized the red flags during my initial consultation, where he boasted that chiropractic care was more important than other medical fields, such as orthopedics. Please, if you decide to make an appointment with him, pay attention to his bragging during the initial evaluation. Less

It's been about 2 years since I went to go see Dr. McAuliffe (or however you spell him name) and I feel like my experience is something that should be shared. He was very charismatic and very thorough during my initial appointment. I originally came to him saying that I was experiencing what I thought was sciatic nerve pain, a sharp pain going through my left leg and lower back, after an injury w... More

It's been about 2 years since I went to go see Dr. McAuliffe (or however you spell him name) and I feel like my experience is something that should be shared. He was very charismatic and very thorough during my initial appointment. I originally came to him saying that I was experiencing what I thought was sciatic nerve pain, a sharp pain going through my left leg and lower back, after an injury while painting my aunt's house. It was too the point where it was excruciating to do daily tasks. He was confident in explaining my treatment and said that couldn't be possible. He stated that only 10% of the nerves in your body actually feel pain and after some x-rays (which I got to keep on a thumb drive. Pretty cool), he insisted that it was because of my vertebrae slowly merging together over time which happens to a lot of people, I understand. But I didn't feel listened to and I felt like he was just trying to get money out of me since I was paying out of pocket and not charging any insurance. However I was desperate for pain relief. I think I saw him for about a month. Within that month there was at least 10 to 15 visits for adjustments. However, my first red flag was the initial appointment when I said it felt like sciatic pain and I was dismissed. After about 2 weeks of adjustments, his treatment wasn't helping. I decided to book an appointment with his massage therapist and she could barely touch me it hurt so much. At one point, she even stated it might be a sciatic issue. I laughed and told her she should tell her chiropractor that and she was silent. (Second red flag) By the next appointment he made the adjustment that I was dreading because it was painful every single time and I cried. After he adjusted me and I could barely move, the only response he had for me is that not a lot of patients usually cry on his table. (Third red flag). Maybe then you should probably listen when someone says they have sciatic pain. Maybe just because you consider yourself a professional doesn't mean that you should ignore what a patient is telling you because the chances of that 10% being on your table, is low. I went to go see another chiropractor and after the initial appointment, I was told that I have a slightly herniated disc and all I needed was some traction. (A machine that pulls your lower body from your upper part to decompress it). After only three appointments, most of my pain was gone and by the fifth one I wasn't experiencing any more pain. I was given further instruction on how to prevent an injury again and all I could think about was how Dr. Mcauliffe didn't listen to me. That he thought he knew better. I could have avoided months of pain, so many painful adjustment appointments and saved so much money if he had just listened to me instead of brushing me off. Was it malpractice, sexism? I don't know. But definitely go find yourself a different chiropractor. Less

They actually sent a rude message saying they'd "unfortunately" have to cancel my appointment without that information. It's funny that they ask people for their social security numbers, address, medical history and contact information but can't take 5 seconds and tell someone if their insurance is accepted there or not. One week ago today, I arrived at the Red Mill Chiropractor around 10 AM. My husband drove as I was in excruciating pain. Both hands were above my kneecaps as I walked in their front door like a Sumo wrestler. I was brought back into a room for a consultation with Dr. Lombardozzi, x-rays of my spine followed immediately. That afternoon, we drove back to discuss the results. The issue I was having was clearly explained to me including precise visual measurements, identifying the source of my pain exactly. I then completed my first adjustment and finally felt some relief. Today I completed my 6th adjustment and feel confident in the plan of attack we have established to combat this situation and lessen the chances of it reoccurring. The personal attention I received and thoughtful insight has resulted in healthy lifestyle adjustments, some far overdue. Also, what I didn’t mention is, this pain started on Friday, 2 days before reaching the Red Mill Chiropractor. I was going insane with pain by Saturday morning, so my husband drove me to Patient First when they opened at 8AM, they asked me to come back at 10:30AM when the X-ray technician would arrive. We drove back there at 10:30 and they wheelchaired me in, to the counter to pay, then to take blood pressure and weight. Both of which were impossible since my body was shaking in pain and the BP machine “timed-out” on my upper arm twice. I was taken from there into a room where I lay bent in half until the doctor peeked his head in the doorway and told me I needed to go to the hospital. He stated they were not equipped to help me. I explained that I was waiting for Monday to see the Chiropractor and he interrupted me with “NO, you do not need a chiropractor” then offered me advice that “all ambulance rides in Virginia Beach are free and he could get me one”. Finally, on the way out I got the standard, generic packet of papers. One that reminded me I was also “obese”, one that told me I had high blood pressure, and another was a note for work. Too bad for me, I work for myself, no work = no money. So, we piled back into my truck and headed to Princess Anne Hospital E.R., again in by wheelchair, BP cuff wouldn’t read because of my shaking and physical lack of ability to sit straight or still. Finally, I reached the Doctor who asked a few questions, took an ultrasound on both of my ankles and then sent me home with muscle relaxers, steroids and Tylenol. Covering up the pain lead me nowhere. I am fortunate to have found and highly recommend Red Mill Chiropractor. Thank you for showing me the path to “POSITIVE RESULTS”. Update 4/5/24: I’ve been coming to Red Mill Chiro for 3 weeks now and I feel like a much stronger, smarter version of myself. Just stopping by for my appointments, feels like being at a friends’ house, genuine conversation, attention to every detail. I guess it was a good thing that originated from a bad thing. Just a few short weeks ago, I was in a real jam with how to deal with the pain, how to function, not hopeful that anyone could help. I now enjoy sleeping well, thinking straight and most importantly, I have learned a great deal about how my body functions properly. Even though I am not totally out of the woods yet, my results so far have already exceeded my expectations. This is now a lifestyle priority for me, respecting how we are wired, literally. When I went two weeks later, they couldn't find my appointment in the system even though I had an appointment, and they said that the doctor was busy right now and they needed to reschedule the appointment. So they wasted my time and kept me from my job. Also, when I first came, they said that the price was $75 and when I went to the appointment, they said that the price would be variable between $100 and $250. Both the appointment dates are inconsistent and the prices are inconsistent. Situations unsuitable for a health institution. Less
