I had no experience with Arabic when I started Lingua Verna's Foundation Level 1 course, but really wanted to learn in order to connect with family and support my kids as they learn Arabic. Learning a language from scratch is difficult, especially in an online setting. In fact, as an education researcher and evaluator, I've seen many of the pitfalls of online courses, so I was cautious about signing up for one myself. However, having successfully completed Level 1, it's clear that the creators were very intentional in their design decisions. From the step-by-step way they scaffold the content, to the multimodal repetition (audio, visual, oral), to the community atmosphere in which students interact with each other and instructors, it all helps build Arabic language skills while keeping students engaged week after week. I've really enjoyed meeting others from around the world who share a passion for the language and Levantine culture. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a high-quality opportunity to establish or advance their Levantine Arabic skills.

Unlike Duolingo or Memrise, actual interactions with other learners and speakers makes you realise just how complex and beautiful Arabic is. In terms of a courses it is well designed, not to focus on translation or allow you to over rely on arabeasy but dual codes pictures and situations to make the grammar and vocabulary stick directly to a situation/word rather than filtering through English. The notes are nicely made and laid out and the quizzes get you thinking. Only embark if you're a self starter and independent learner as Arabic will require you to do some work on your own! Notice from the photos that all pictures align from the video, notes and clear match to the cheat sheet if you need support.There are weekly learning videos (X2) in the one hour group session - ask questions as others may have them! Then one week with exercises reinforcing the learning. Then a weekly quiz that requires you to pass to move on.

This is one of the best language learning platforms I've ever used. It's clear, thoughtful, and precise. It gives options for learning spoken Arabic even within your selected dialect to help clarify differing pronunciations so you can choose what works best for what you need to speak. The pace is quick for those who haven't been exposed to Arabic before but if you can stay on top of the class you will do just fine. Conversation groups are really helpful to practice!

I am thankful I found Lingua Verna and took a chance on an IG ad. I have wanted to learn Arabic for many years, but most courses available focus on MSA and do not emphasize spoken dialects. Lingua Verna makes Levantine Arabic accessible and fun. It is organized, easy to use, taught well and works with my schedule. And I adore my teacher Buraq- he is an excellent and supportive teacher. Although I am a beginner, I have learned so much more than in the few courses of MSA I have taken. I look forward to continuing my Arabic language learning process with them and someday having full conversations with family members and new friends in Arabic.

I took several Levantine Arabic courses with other companies and felt I was not advancing in both reading, speaking and understanding as much I should given the number of courses I was taking. After months, I couldn't even have a basic introductory conversation. I came across Linga Verna on Instagram and signed up! I've completed Level 1 and now am on Level 2 of the Levantine Foundations course. The course material is excellent and the videos are equally as good. The teachers are excellent as well and very patient. I can finally have a basic conversation with someone I meet and am starting to understand songs and movies when I listen and watch them! You need to study and do the homework to make everything come together!

I'm currently in level two of Lingua Verna's Levantine Arabic foundations and I'm really enjoying it. I appreciate that the course meets twice a week, and one of those is a conversation group, so I can practice what I'm learning with a small group. Buraq and Nermeen have been my teachers for those groups in levels 1 and 2, and they are patient and personable. My schedule is variable, and the course offers lots of flexibility for scheduling.

I have tried to get introduced to the spoken Arabic Language in an attempt to appreciate more about the people and business culture within the Middle East, as I'm a South African Expat living in Abu Dhabi. However, after a few attempts at using some of the mainstream apps, I gave up completely - and came away with zero ability to listen, read or speak any level of Arabic within my environment!What I love about the LV system and platform is how integrated the materials are, the size of the tutor groups and the progressive structure of the assessment methods throughout the course modules. And the tutors who host the sessions are really professional, patient and supportive.I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to start with learning and appreciation of the Arabic Language especially if they interact with or live in the Middle East

I am so grateful for this program for helping me with my grammar and the layout of everything. I am in school, and this is a very manageable program for those who aren't ready to commit a massive amount of time. It is seriously such a good environment, and I feel comfortable making mistakes. I also love that although people come with different levels of exposure to arabic, everything is fully explained (I've been in intro classes before where I felt completely left behind as the class was adapted to people with previous arabic knowledge while i was struggling with the alphabet!) In the convo groups, the profs will also adapt to people's level of capacity, which is great ! I like hearing where I could (will) be with a bit more practice 😉

I grew up around Arabic, specifically Lebanese dialect, and understood way more than I could speak. Lot’s of other Arabic courses or Apps I tried teach formal Arabic, which was not really relevant to me. I’m so grateful that I found this Lingua Verna course! The teachers and other students make for a really comfortable and fun learning environment. The course is smartly structured, but also flexible. I’m held accountable for doing the work, which I need! I’m in Level 2 now and can read, write and say essential things. I highly recommend Lingua Verna. It’s been the push I needed to finally learn this beautiful language that is so central to my life.
