PennyEarned Concrete and Site Prep

Well intentioned isn’t enough…PennyEarned seemed like just the right choice. . . until I made just a few wrong assumptions. My plan to enhance my walkway and courtyard was ambitious. For years, the tiles had cracked and sometimes made walking dangerous. So, it made perfect sense to turn to textured concrete. It would be more than attractive and safe. It would be an instant deal maker when I sell the house because the curb appeal would be excellent.I turned to PennyEarned. Their rep came out, took all of the measurements and presented an estimate. That’s where I (or rather them) made mistakes. I assumed what should have been obvious.Surely PennyEarned had a page where I could compare one color to another. There was no page. Just a collection of somewhat hazy photographs.Worse yet PennyEarned couldn’t guarantee what color the concrete would actually look like. I’d be stuck with it…for years.I knew I might have a difficult time finding just the right texture.I didn’t.There were no choices to look at.I’m not sure PennyEarned can texture concrete at all.I paid one half the total upfront: several thousand dollars. Since I hadn’t chosen any color or texture, the company was spared from making the large nonrefundable cost to buy the materials for my job. And their spending a few hours preparing the estimate wasn’t worth thousands of dollars.I thought it was considerate of them when they offered to refund a fair percentage of the deposit for that reason. They said they would send a check. Then they said they would send the check. Then they said they would send the check. Then they said they would send the checkIt’s been six weeks.I haven’t seen the check. I will never see the check.I lost time and money.Turn to real pros. They’ll anticipate every question. They’ll clean up after every visit. Their work will be perfect and right the first time. You’ll see my write up of their fine work elsewhere in these reviews.
