City Nails always takes great care when I go in for a visit. The nail salon is always clean and inviting. The staff are welcoming and professional.

I have always had SNS for the past few years and wanted to try something different. I was immediately rushed into the chair without being asked to pick a color (I got there at 6:00 and they close at 7:30). I then asked the tech if they offered gel builder nails and he said yes. He then followed up with, "But you should get SNS, gel builder doesn't come off". I explained that "I didn't want it to come off anyway and just wanted to try it". He started talking to his coworker who then came over to try to persuade me again to get SNS. I asked her why she didn't like gel builder and she explained "SNS was healthier for my nails". I continued to explain to them I had SNS for years and wanted to try something new. I was so annoyed at this point that I said I would just do a regular gel manicure and nothing more. The female tech then said "well, we will try gel builder for you and see how you like it!" seeming annoyed. She then proceeded to put one thin coat of clear gel on and then 2-3 coats of polish (while the other nail tech aggressively popped off my old acrylic). She asked if I wanted wax and I just said yes because I didn't want to go back and forth with them again. Halfway through she explained it would be $77. I had never had gel builder before, therefor I didn't understand the process or the cost. After tip I almost spent $100 for this rushed manicure I had to argue with them about and several nails were shaped unevenly. Unknowingly, my nails did look thin and natural like I wanted so ultimately I was happy. Until today! I went to another salon, got REAL gel builder nails and the process was MUCH different and took quite a while to complete (I am assuming this is why City nails didn't want to do gel builder). City Nails & Spa did a regular gel manicure with NO TIPS or acrylic added and charged me $77 + tip!!! I feel because I had never had this done or understood the real process, I was rushed and swindled out of my money. These people are crooks and only looking for the next dollar! This is not how you keep recurrent customers! And to add to this, the new salon I went to today charged me $55 and my nails have never looked this good and the pedicure I got was immaculate! (I spent $120 today including TIP for CND nails with the BEST pedicure) Less

My pedicure was tolerable. My only advice to the pedicure lady. I would prefer her not completely paint my nails and apply gel and then file them afterwards. It’s weird. I don’t like it. This is a “gentleman” spa… they are not that great at doing nails. I went in to relax but was met with very very pushy up sale tactics. I’m newer to the Gainesville area and had yet to find “my spa” … you girls know what I mean! My husband bought me gift cards for City Nails, and thank goodness he did!This salon is clean, friendly and Kim, who has become my regular tech, does a bang-up job on my dip powder manicures, eyelash extensions and waxing. Not to mention that the pedicures are DIVINE!!!I leave every time so relaxed I’m like a limp noodle … and my manicures, pedicures and eyelash extensions stay SO NICE for several weeks!
