I started Self Science a few months ago, after being impacted by a round of layoffs. The job market was bleak and I was concerned that I’d approach my search like I do most challenges: full on, and often at the expense of myself, those I love, and my health. I had started to grow in those areas and wanted structure to see if there was a kinder way I could navigate the uncertainty. After a few weeks of tracking I noticed a common theme emerge: I felt more satisfied with my life, and my job search was more effective, when I took care of myself. When I exercised, focused on my loved ones, and meditated. I started noticing that foundation help me make the most of opportunities when they came up, and enjoy my life when they seemed slim. I wasn’t just pushing through. I was living my life, enjoying it most days, and giving myself permission to take care of myself on days I didn’t.For me, Self Science was a powerful framework that has helped me learn from my choices and their impact. It’s helped me connect the dots in a new way, and make a series of small pivots that, cumulatively, have lead me closer to the life I want to live.
