I’m 56 years old and I have a very large family and have attended dozens and dozens of funerals, and the services provided by Agape Life Services Funeral Home for my Mother-In-Law, who lived with us while in Hospice care, were the absolute best home going services I have EVER attended, EVER! The Angel is in the details; It’s the small details (And big ones) that Agape handles with sheer perfection! It’s very important to talk through the complete process in detail with Agape, even if you are planning to do some parts on your own. Agape is ONLY limited by the information that you share with them and what you “think” you will need. There are many parts of the process that my wife and I thought we were going to handle, to only transfer it to Sherri and her team. The program that Agape delivered was the most beautiful program that I have ever been graced to witness! Sherri (The Owner) is a great listener! We had a lot of communication with Agape, and they crafted funeral services that incapsulated the fighting spirit of my Mother-in-Law. For the parts we handled, I found the advice and wisdom provided by Agape to be instrumental in why the service was so beautiful and captured my Mother-In-Law fighting spirit. Our specific needs had challenges because my Mother-In-Law is from North Carolina and she moved to Fredericksburg, VA so we could care for her under Hospice care. Most of the family is in North Carolina and Georgia. When we initially contacted Agape Life Services; they were only going to do the pickup from home and prepare her for travel to NC. What we ended up with was Agape handling EVERYTHING! Home Pickup, preparing my Mother-In-Law for her home going services (She looked like a Movie Star), renting the best facility in Oxford NC, Transportation to and from North Carolina and the final Cremation services! It was through this elevated communication that we quickly realized that we needed Agape to take full control and not split it between two funeral homes. I could not get ANY pricing from ANY of the funeral homes in NC, where Agape gave me full pricing on EVERYTHING! And they handled everything! We only had 1 contact and that was Agape! Everything in VA and NC was handled by them! Heck they even posted the obituary in the local paper for us!After the loss of a loved one, the most important part is to fully honor the grieving period/process. One of my favorite sayings is: It’s easy to do something until you have to actually do it! This is true with planning a home going celebration while you are in the middle of the grieving process. It looks easy on the outside, not so much when you have to do it while grieving! We thought we had everything covered and we kind of did but needed Agape to help execute it to perfection!Funeral services for a loved one is a deeply personal and important endeavor for the ones left behind to plan it. It takes the ultimate trust to just let someone else take over that very important responsibility. If we knew now what we knew at the beginning, we would have handed everything over to Agape for execution from the start! Agape had EARNED that ultimate and deep personal trust from our immediate and extended family. It’s all about the love and compassion for the dearly departed and they have that in spades!I will finish where I started, I thought I was being bias on my Mother-In-Law home going services being the most beautiful I had ever experienced! However, pretty much EVERYONE that attended said the same thing un-prompted! Also, if you don’t have a pastor to preside over the Service, they have a great one! You would have thought the reverend and my Mother-In-Law grew up together! It was a master class in mixing my Mother-In-Law’s Life Story with the scriptures!I hope this helps a family grappling with the loss of a loved one and who they should have handle the home going arrangements for the departed loved one!Peace and BlessingDerrick N
