My accident occurred on April 30, 2023, in another state. One of my first calls was to Cornerstone Physical Therapy. I spent a week in the hospital, released to my family with a road to recovery which included 2 of the most serious of the injuries: My right arm that I was told probable surgery and 2 years to no complete recovery. Once I was able to travel back to Colorado, I saw wonderful Orthopedic Surgeon looking at possible total shoulder replacement. Fast forward, from June 5th until my second appt, July 3rd, with the Orthopedic Surgeon and MRI in hand, stated: "This is healing on its own and let's wait until November and reevaluate. I and my colleagues believe this is healing on its own and you will not need surgery." What happened that month, was the miraculous healing power of God and Cornerstone Physical Therapy. 30 days!! only 30 days! my right arm went from no movement or use to 60% and is continuing to complete recovery! Where do I start… I was having daily vertigo for 18 months. I didn’t realize that was my problem at first. I fell a couple of times walking my dog and thought, what did you trip on. The dizziness and balance issues increased along with nausea. I thought maybe I had some inner ear issues. I made an appointment with my ENT and he felt I was having vertigo. He gave me two options for receiving therapy to treat the problem. He indicated he preferred Cornerstone because they were neuro specialists and the stronger of the options. I called the next day and got an appointment with Joel. I was a little skeptical when he put the goggles on me and maneuvered me around. Sure enough there it was the vertigo with a strong diagnosis. Joel explained what vertigo was caused by and I was able to see the video taken with the goggles on. He then taught me the log roll maneuver to treat the vertigo. The team set up several appointments where the maneuver was reinforced and also Checking to see if the vertigo had ceased. My life is now controlled by me again. I am no longer afraid to take walks. I am not worried people will think I am drunk because I suddenly would start walking sideways. I have been treated by all members of the team, Gina, Meredith, Johno, Liam and Joel. All are well trained professional and knowledgeable physical therapists. The facility is based on a team approach with daily updates on the patients being seen. This results in consistent care planning and treatment. Thank you everyone for the great care I have received. Of special note, they listen heavily to patient feedback. They want the patient to let them know as soon as possible, if something new is desired. Patients have to be willing to point out their problems and relate to the therapist if to hard, too soft, move to a different area, etc. For example, today while Gina worked on my brachial plexus (forgive if misspelled), I felt sensations moving from that area down my upper arm to my elbow. When I told her this, she said it meant she was on target. Patient feedback during the appointment, when therapy can be adjusted, is best. It's also much easier to explain if they are doing the maneuver instead of everyone memories being tested days later. Less

I had a trimalleolar fracture in my left ankle two breaks on the fibula and one break in the tibia. Plates screws pins the works. I was about eight months in after the surgery and still not able to walk without hobbling. I had lots of pain in the front of my ankle and wasn’t able to stand on the tip of my toes and so I couldn’t “push off” with my left foot to be able to walk normally. Also had t... More

I had been going to Colorado sport and spine but I was progressing so slowly and they were giving me vibes like they didn’t want me there so I went looking for someone who felt like they new what they were talking about. I tend to ask lots of questions to try to understand what’s going on with me. I break lots of bones, over 20 now, so this wasn’t a new situation, just the worst one yet. I will also poke and prod with not much hope of understanding certain things just to feel out a “professionals” understanding of the associated subject. I felt reassured and confident in Joel’s competence shortly after I met him and I wasn’t wrong. He’s also a nice guy with a well developed sense of humor. I think he might have totally affected my future. If I had ended up a couple more places that just told me to do this stretch and that exercise I might have just accepted the pain as the inevitable result of a horrible break. At cornerstone they helped me through actual skilled and isolated physical manipulation of the problem areas.. through talking with Joel I’m sure that he has never settled into a comfortable job but instead that he continues to study and grow his craft. And he doesn’t even specialize in ankles :) I’m not an easy customer. As a patient I probly require patients. I’m frequently late or absent but the staff has always been very kind. I think I will soon be back to Longboarding and running through the woods. Maybe even skating. My future looks brighter now. Thanks for being excellent Joel. He diagnosed her much differently than others and she and I both saw improvement with each visit. Unknowingly, my own treatment and symptoms from the car accident began to worsen after a year and I lost precious movement of turning my head side to side. I am a quadriplegic and the feeling of hitting a wall with the muscles in my neck each time I tried to turn my head was, again, very discouraging. Joel was the first to explain using a spinal model what movement had been lost and what should be natural despite my spinal cord injury neck fusion. As with my wife, from the very first visit, Joel began to restore my hope that it could get better and possibly even better than I had experienced for years before the car accident. He was right. The treatment has needed to be consistent to regain weekly losses, but I look forward to my visits because I know I leave each appointment with much improved range of motion. The vision therapist, Dr. Watt, improved her eye coordination and tracking but was unable to help with the pain or visual snow. He recommended Cornerstone Physical Therapy. At our initial consult in January, the therapist was confident they could help. It was slow improvement at first as we live 45 minutes away and could only get here once a week. We kept coming, and once we started twice weekly the changes were amazing! By the end of April she was able to watch TV again and read without pain! At the end of May she had no more visual snow, and she could go to the movies without pain again! I went there and Joel took on my case. After one session he had relieved the pain in my neck, head and shoulders. No pain after so, so long. It was like a miracle. All of a sudden I felt normal. I went back today and got the same treatment, same results. It is a very friendly place too. I love going there. I would recommend Cornerstone to anyone who has pain. I trust them completely. I will be going more, I now have hope for a normal life. New hope for my depth perception today. I was telling Joel how hard it is to hike behind our house because all the sandstone on the trail is the same color. Now I know that in the accident the eyes were jerked hard and the nerves behind the eyes were stretched and damaged. I thought the problem was having my cataracts fixed several years ago. Finally I have an answer and hope that Joel can make things right again. For anyone who has had a head or neck injury or a traumatic car accident this is the place for you to get back to normal. Hope is alive for me. Joel taught my husband a simple massage and he got to practice it last week. One of the muscles that connects your shoulder to base of neck was in a bad spasm. If you are having significant aches and pains or are in need of physical therapy this is definitely the place to go. After several tests (a thyroid scan, 3 laryngoscopies and an endoscopy) my ENT referred me to Cornerstone Physical Therapy. At this point the pain was so severe it interfered with everyday activities. During the assessment Joel determined that my issue was due to a mid-neck instability and recommended flexion/extension c-spine x-rays, which ultimately confirmed his diagnosis. I have been in treatment for several months now and while I still have a little ways to go due to how long the underlying cause had existed, the progress I have made is nothing short of amazing. The staff at Cornerstone has definitely provided that. Sometimes I am a little sore after physical therapy, but long term it always helps. I came to Cornerstone with issues of lower back pain and leg numbness and I was very apprehensive about trying dry needling. This place is absolutely amazing. I have been struggling with migraines and headaches for as long as I can remember now, and I have been to soooo many different places to try different forms of relief. When you go to a place like that and you’re surrounded by such kind, patient and caring people it’s hard to not have hope about what you’re going through...even when some days all you want to do is just give up. They have seen me laugh, smile, cry, and they have recently seen me at some of the lowest moments I’ve ever had. They have been nothing short of caring and supportive, and I believe that’s the best kind of place you can go to no matter what reason may take you there. They got me in an hour later. Second of all, Joel is an angel on this earth. I had no idea there were people out there that could specialize in headaches - moreover the kind of headaches I get - and that my kind of headache was such a THING. A treatable thing! I walked into the right office. He told me things about my neck and headaches that I felt like I always knew from experiencing them, but that no one else had ever been able to pinpoint and layout for me. Dry Needling works wonders! You might be wondering what dry needling is and have 101 questions. I first received dry needling after 10 years of constant back pain due to an injury. At first I didn't think it would do much but I was extremely pleased with the results. For the first time in 10 years I was not in constant pain. Dry needling is much different from say acupuncture as it goes deeper into the muscle to relieve the tension. You don't feel the needles going in, probably because they're tiny little needles. But you do feel the results! Plus because the PT's have to be certified in dry needling, it's safe and done properly. It gets right to the root of the problem, the muscle, instead of just surface treatment. Also, suffering from chronic migraines, it was one of the only things I found to give relief from the constant headaches. As the needling can be done on your neck as well. If you've had a bad experience with dry needling then I'm thinking you haven't had it done right. On June 19, 2018, I was sent to see the physical Therapist Cornerstone (Joel) regarding an issue that had just occurred the week prior. On June 8, 2018 I was abruptly awakened in the middle of the night with a serious spat of vertigo. I’ve never experienced anything like this never had vertigo; the first time in my life to have endured a 15 minute dizzy spell which required me to be transported to the hospital. I was admitted into the ER Hospital as the ER Doctor determined my potassium levels were at a dangerous level (low 2.1) and I continue to have severe head spins unknown if they were related. The medical doctors while in the ER completed a CT scan, MRI and MRA which produced negative results. After several hours of administering heavy doses of potassium, my blood levels had balanced out. The doctor expressed that he was going to help control my symptoms that I was experiencing and was going to refer me to a specialist as he had determined I also had vertigo. I was released from the hospital within 24 hours and was advised to see a specialist on June 12, 2018 who later referred me to Cornerstone to see “Joel”. The first specialist advised that Joel was an excellent resource as he stated “Joel is one of the best and he will be able to determine what therapy you will need”. I immediately contacted Cornerstone and set up an appointment for June 19 and the 20th. I spoke with Joel on my first and second sessions which later included the third one. At the first evaluation Joel was able to determined that I had vertigo as he expressed multiple times that he was going to be able to fix me. After a therapy session he wanted to see me immediately at 8 AM the next morning and continue the therapy. I was very pleased with the technology and the knowledge that Joel and his team had when determining how to treat my vertigo and not just guess. As I continue my last session on June 26, 2018 the vertigo had completely ceased. The therapy and knowledge that Joel provided has put me back on track so that I was able to return back to work. The time I was admitted into the hospital and until June 29, 2018, I was removed from my position at work, unable to complete my duties due to the vertigo. Cornerstone's Therapy I had received worked which has now allowed me to returned back to full duty. I am a Colorado Springs Police Officer and have been providing service to the citizens of Colorado Springs for the past 28 years. It is extremely important as a patrol officer that I am physically fit and able to provide a service that is required of this position for the safety of the community. It was expressed by Cornerstone (Joel) as he reassured me from the very beginning that he would be able to cure my episodes of vertigo. To this date I am free of any vertigo and have completely been restored back to my position as a police officer. Due to Cornerstone and Joel’s therapy techniques, I have no vertigo. He spent the meeting really delving into my issue and was able to come up with a treatment plan perfect for me by the end of the first session. I have now gone to four sessions and notice a difference. The therapists are open to hearing about your progress and setbacks and really work hard to find a treatment for them. I have significant issues with my back and neck, for which I have sought the services of Cornerstone Physical Therapy. This is a small practice that affords its patients outstanding support. As patients, we are encouraged to see any and all of the practitioners to allow differing points of view and a broad spectrum of approaches. This approach affords patients the best of all worlds. The therapists share their perspectives on patients each morning. The therapists are talented, professional, and personable. The reception staff are friendly and efficient. I once overheard a visiting therapist sharing his insights into the differences between Cornerstone and the practice where he was employed. He commented on how surprised he as that the morning meetings focused exclusively on the patients and their needs, whereas the practice where he worked focused on who had which insurance, with the best service being provided to the patients with the best insurance. There was no mention of insurance in the Cornerstone meetings. During treatment for my neck and back, I mentioned that I was having significant episodes of dizziness. I was amazed to learn that the Cornerstone therapists were trained to diagnose ear issues that result in my symptoms. They were able to determine which ear and which canal in that ear was responsible for my dizziness. They have been treating me for this with a significant reduction in my episodes, and a goal of stopping them altogether. In short, I have recommended this practice to several friends who are looking for good physical therapists. I can’t imagine finding a group more competent, professional, and personable than I have found at Cornerstone. Less

I have seen PT people a couple of times in my life but have never had such great, lasting results as I have had with Cornerstone.
