I attended Rise Rehab & Performance’s free “Resilient Knee Workshop” on August 23, 2025. Having a past knee injury, I was curious about the techniques and exercises they would share. That day, I consulted with Dr. Skye and Dr. Martin regarding recent back pain and a hip pain I had been dealing with for a couple of months. The RISE team sent me forms to fill out concerning my medical history and the activities that might have contributed to my pain.We scheduled an evaluation appointment for September 16th. After the consultation with Dr. Martin, the diagnosis was a Lumbar Strain. He explained the following contributing factors:-Flattened spinal curves-Decreased spinal mobility into flexion (a dominant hip hinge pattern)-Quick fatigue of the erector muscles-Improved symptoms when performing a loaded hinge (indicating a need for core stability)Treatment and ExperienceDuring the evaluation, Dr. Martin took the time to determine the cause of my injuries. He also learned about my love for CrossFit. I quickly trusted the RISE team because they also participate in CrossFit, which helps them understand the programming and what I was experiencing. In addition to physical therapy exercises, I requested dry needling treatment. Fortunately, Dr. Martin is certified to perform this technique. This wasn't my first time seeking Physical Therapy, and I expected to be assigned home exercises. We reviewed these during the first session. The team uses an app that provides detailed explanations, videos, and pictures of the exercises. I chose a total of eight sessions, once a week for two months.I appreciated the follow-up email regarding my diagnosis. It clearly explained everything we discussed, including what the sessions would look like (expectations), the time frame, and the pricing. Since I had attended their free knee workshop, I also received a 10% affiliate discount. After attending only two to three sessions with Dr. Martin, I was able to lift again without the back strain I had been feeling. I continued to perform my home exercises before my CrossFit class, showing up at the gym a few minutes early to maintain my progress. In the later part of my PT sessions, we began focusing on my hip pain. At the end of every appointment, Dr. Martin always ensured he addressed any concerns or questions I had.Their former clinic was small (a temporary space), but we managed the treatment well since I was the only client during my sessions. They are now moving to a new, bigger location. Their equipment is also nice and well-maintained.Dr. Martin is kind, professional, highly specialized in Physical Therapy, and has a compassionate approach toward his clients and fellow CrossFit enthusiasts. Thank you for helping me get better physically and mentally, and for the encouragement.I highly recommend Rise Rehab & Performance to anyone experiencing nagging pain that prevents them from improving their lifts and exercises. You will not regret seeking their expertise and professional help.
