A very well organised and friendly set up at Compton Verney, which is a beautiful place to swim. There is a grassy area to put your wetsuit on and walk down to the waters edge, and there is matting as you enter the lake which is beautifully clean,Large obvious buoys mark out a short and longer course and there are spotters in kayaks and on the side monitoring everyone in the water.Cake and hot drinks available to buy at the end, what more could you ask for? This is an impressive location, the stunning house and grounds really make this swim different. The staff were friendly and helpful and you felt like you were in safe hands with lifeguards in kayaks on the water and spotters on land checking you are ok. Cakes and hot drinks were available afterwards. There are no changing facilities but most people are happy changing on the grass bank or back in their car. Unfortunately the water quality is not as good as other lakes and I could barely see my hand through the murky water. I also emerged with a face-full of silt somehow. It is late May and there were some weeds not enough to get in the way but if you are swimming without a wetsuit you can feel them. There is also some road noise which if you are here to enjoy the tranquility is a little annoying, but wouldn’t be noticeable if you have your head in training. All standards of swimmers come here but the vast majority were in wetsuits swimming front crawl rather than heads up breaststroke having a natter. This is also the most expensive open water swimming venue in the area.Overall, great location, shame about the water. Less

Was nervous before going open water swimming at Compton Verney with Do3 but after my first try I loved it and am keen to go back for more. I'm a slow breaststroke swimmer who wanted to get some enjoyable outdoor exercise for his old fat body. I was worried others might be too serious & I would be in the way. There are some fast swimmers but there were also slow ones like me and I was not in the way. I felt well looked after and safe. There were lifeguards watching on the banks, lifeguards in kayaks on the water who greeted you as you went around, people for checking in and some free to give advice. Oh and the cake & hot chocolate that is available for after the swim was great. Less

Just back from my first open water swim at Compton Verney with Do3. I’ve been enjoying cold water therapy and wild swimming for a while now, but this was my first time at this particular venut. The event was incredibly well organised, and the setting is stunning. Swimming through a Capability Brown-designed landscape is a unique experience. There were plenty of triathletes in training, but also a good number of people simply enjoying the water and connection with nature. A brilliant way to end the day. Less

We have been twice now for a swim at Compton Verney. The whole experience is so well organised by Do3 Coaching - from the safety aspect to the teas and homemade cakes served at the end of your swim. My first experience of an open water swim in the local lake was earlier this evening, and I admit I was anxious about it beforehand. I need not have worried: the Do3 staff were so kind, and everything felt very safe. The water was pretty cold, but that's to be expected in early May. Tea and cake afterwards certainly helped warm me up again! All very positive, and I will be back for sure. Less

Having never attended a triathlon training camp before (let alone travel to Mallorca) I didn't know what to expect, what I experienced with Do3 was amazing.Swim sessions in the resort pool were arranged so that 1 lane was always publicly available leaving the rest of the pool for our squad.The on-site spa resort was also included in the price along with a daily afternoon pasta party if you needed refuelling after some of the bike rides, as I was travelling so last minute (12 hours earlier I didn't even know of this camp) an essential packing last included enough things to swim, bike & run, (Do3 even arranged a local place where I could rent a bike), all sessions whilst planned were flexible to allow free time to do my own thing, whether that be exploring on foot, bike or sea !The food at the restaurant was so delicious (soo much choice and so much available) it was not conducive to a minimalist diet !All in, Do3 put on a remarkable training camp for all levels of ability and spoil you by choosing such superb facilities Less

I’ve been with Do3 for 11 months now. After doing my first 70.3 1 year ago I took on the journey of a Full Ironman. David and Corinne have been amazing in not only doing my programming but teaching me about what’s realistic, training zones to train in, power (watts), swims sets and all the fancy dynamics. After breaking my jaw 6 weeks prior to the event I still managed to do it in 10:27. They look at how much time I have and help me still balance life with training which is very difficult! Under their coaching I just redid the same 70.3 from 12 months ago and went from 4:53 to 4:32. Very pleased and would highly recommend them. Wow! What an amazing place! The location is stunning, the water is so clean. The organisation is second to none, warm welcome, clear instructions, excellent safety plans in place. We went as a group, some first time ever open water swim. The course was clearly marked with huge buoys, help getting in and out the water was available and we all just loved every minute. This is a friendly, accessible and lovely place for an open water swim. Good supervision and a lot of breast swimmers chatting as they go round as well as people (like me and my wife) who are training for a triathlon. It was an ok amount of other swimmers. Plenty of room. It's three times round the 500m course for the standard triathlon distance. Water Visibility is similar to triathlons (ie no visibility in the water - can just about see my hands) and that is good. Water quality good. Temperature 19 degrees and above is fine. Less

This was my first open water swim and although I was excited I was also a little apprehensive - mainly about the cold water!! Absolutely lovely lake swim at Compton Verney - my first time here. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I felt at ease, and not at all embarrassed by my very slow pace. The venue is beautiful. This is definitely one tick off my bucket list! I love swimming in an outside pool but had never in my 62 years swam in a lake. I was pretty nervous, mainly because you can’t see what’s beneath you and I had a fear of being wrapped up in reeds or something unknown brushing past me! 😱. I need not have worried at all! I really enjoyed my swim in between the fast triathletes and more leisurely swimmers I found my pace. Braved putting my face and head into the cool but clean water and swam a few times around the bouys. Everyone there was super helpful and made sure I was comfortable before going in and spotters in kayaks checked on me. Loved it. Highly recommend. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Glad I did. 😊 Less

Compton Verney sprint triathlon 2024 was a really enjoyable event, with a relexed atmosphere. The swim was my only complaint of the day, in that it was only 400m (super sprint distance) instead of 750m, which you would normally find in an open water race. However the lake had superb swim conditions on the day. The bike course was very well signposted and Marshalled, It was challenging, but also has the potential to be a very fast course. (Fitness levels was my excuse for lack of speed). The run, challenging course, but fair, I would recommend training the ability to change your paces on the run as there are some potential hazards that you might need to slow down and speed up for, however, these areas are very well marshalled. Overall, I really enjoyed the race if they changed the swim distance to 750m, I think I’d book it now for 2025. Less

A superb event. Entry and registration was really easy and straight forward but that was the only thing that was easy! A great venue for the swim, a beautiful lake in a great setting, the only part of the race that was flat! The bike was a really challenging course, some tough climbs but some fast downhills in beautiful Warwickshire countryside. Pittern Hill is a real sting in the tail! Finally the run, two laps of ups and downs. The organisation and the volunteers were brilliant giving you that extra cheer when you really needed it! I would definitely recommend if you’re up for the challenge! My legs have just about recovered, time to sign up for next year! Thank you! Less

I am a seasoned triathlete & I was very impressed by this event. In the Sprint distance, great bike course with some killer hills, same for the run. My only comment would shame the swim was only 400 & not the full 750m. I would also encourage the Do3 to put on a standard distance, it would sell. Oh and 2pm presentation for the sprint is too late for most, even if the MD was still running. But all in all a highly commended event, would do again if a full swim or standard distance was available 🙌🏻 Less

Good value to money if you need to feel secured. Lots of people watching you when in water. Personally don't need that level of guard, but I get it, there are people who do need that. Only reason it is not 5 star is the price as I would do well without any lifeguards. This is very subjective point of view. Venue is great, nice morning swim. Less

We are really enjoying these open water swimming session. Sunday morning early swim sets you up for a good day, but what really makes the event special is the staff/supervisors. Safety is high on their priority but they sort this and make the sessions friendly and fun. And the 'cherry on the cake' is the actual tea and cake on offer at the end of the sessions. Brilliant set up for open water swimming at Compton Verney! The session was very well organised with check made very straight-forward with follow on check-in and -out of the water for safety. Really friendly welcome for a first timer with good set of instructions and checking as to understanding of water safety etc. Plenty of spotters on the banks and kayakers in the water should anything go amiss. In the water it is relatively warm compared to other venues, feels incredibly clean and the course is marked out by very clear yellow inflatables. Just finished the Improve Your Front Crawl course with Dave, Corinne and Anita. It was really helpful to be able to work on each part of the stroke in detail, and then to put it all back to together again. The one-to-one tuition in the final couple of sessions was amazing, and means that I have specific things to work on in the future. I can highly recommend this excellent course! Less

Introduction to front crawl: such fun! Didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did but each session was carefully structured making the whole learning experience very cohesive.
