Today marks 52 weeks since Lauryn Hamernik and I walked into Eupraxia for our very first workout. I’ll admit it was so much easier with a partner! It was a week or so after WSHS homecoming. Lauryn called me after we posted pictures and said “mom, we really need to do something.”. I didn’t want to. The excuses started…I don’t have time, I don’t have shoes, I don’t have clothes, it’s so hard to be consistent, it’s dark in the morning, it’s cold outside…ultimately I knew I wanted to be healthier.Day one we started the 6 week challenge. For those of you reading this, you know how it feels when you can’t walk or sit for that first week. OMG! Lol. I used the lightest weights, the strongest bands, and thought I’d never catch my breath. You know what, no one cared! I always felt that people were cheering us on, helping us get through those first few weeks. The 6 week challenge proved to be successful for us and since then I maintained the healthy habits it created. I’ve gotten SO much stronger using heavier weights and can do push-ups without a band…my 15 year old thinks that’s cool! The simplest things, yard work, taking the Jeep top off, carrying dog food through the store all so much easier than they were before. My overall health has come a long way, with cholesterol, sugars, good cholesterol etc all 100% better than were I was! When I started, it wasn’t about the weight but more about getting healthy…but of course the weight came off too, I’ve lost 41 pounds and just shy of 10% body fat.I’m proud of the success, thankful I found a workout routine that I love, a community of people that cheer you on, and trainers that push you.THANK YOU EUPRAXIA, Ryan Steinhoff, Jolene Danca, Bee Anne and all my workout buddies!!
