Not impressed with this service provider. They lack systems, the patient experience isn’t great and the language used in communications is quite hostile. For example they require a registration form to be completed beforehand but it is not digitised and the forms look like they were put together on word in like 5 minutes. The boxes are not even big enough to put personal details in. They then send you emails the day before the appointment saying the appointment could be cancelled if you don’t send it back before 48 hours at which point time has already lapsed. Fortunately when calling they say it’s fine and you can just bring it to the appointment, meaning it’s a requirement that is not even followed by them. A lot of the correspondence is around payment and they seem to really be driven by that as opposed to delivering high quality care. I have also responded this back to Bupa and I am considering sharing my experiences with the CQC.

I’ve been bringing my daughter to the Functional Gut clinic in Cambridge for several months to take part in a variety of tests - something we could not get on the NHS. Some of these tests are not the most pleasant to have done, but I cannot fault the care Georgina, Steph and all the team have shown her throughout. Everything was carried out at her pace and she felt reassured and in control the whole way through. Reports were returned to my daughter’s consultant (and shared with us via email) incredibly promptly too. This meant her care was able to continue at pace until we finally reached a diagnosis. Although Cambridge is several hours drive from us, some of the tests can be carried out at home, or completed at home and returned by post. This made it a very practical choice of clinic for us.Thank you for your exemplary care you have shown my daughter. I can highly recommend this clinic.

I had a manometry test and 24 hour reflux test with the functional gut clinic. I was put at ease and everything was explained really well. The procedures weren’t painful, just a little uncomfortable. I was checked throughout to make sure I was ok. The instructions to take the reflux device were very clear and I had an opportunity to ask questions. The staff were all very pleasant, professional and caring.

Essential service for Ireland where there is.no or little functional testing. I have a progressive genetic disorder with complex GI dysmotility and have needed a lot of work up and surgeries , I would not have been able to get the work up needed for treatment without this clinic. Dr Mark Scott and the rest of the staff are kind and professional.For those experiencing difficulty getting through via a call I've never had issues contacting them abroad via their email.Thank you again FGC.

Met with a lovely practitioner called Rhiannon at The Functional Gut Clinic in Cambridge. After 6 years of struggling with gut issues Rhiannon suggested that she thought that I may have SIBO, which no one has ever tested me for. Test done and she was right, sure enough I tested positive. I was really worried about my procedure (Oesophageal Manometry and 24 Hour pH and Impendance) as I never had it before and read horrible reviews from other people who had it. I was reassured by Rhiannon that it is a safe, simple and painless procedure and it turned out to be exactly that! Rhiannon was vey friendly and professional and did the procedure quickly with confidence and communicated every step with me. The clinic was very clean and welcoming and the staff were friendly and professional, particularly Rhiannon. Had the tube removed the following day and was on my way.
