The best decision my dad made when he drew a 2023 Michigan bull elk tag was contacting Robbie and The Dog Outfitters. His knowledge of the animals as well as the area proved invaluable. We definitely put in the miles but Robbie and his entire crew went above and beyond to make this hunt a success with my dad harvesting an awesome 6x6 Michigan bull elk in the afternoon of the second day, after Robbie tracked it 6.2 miles. After hunting in 2018 with Robbie McLennan rom "The Dog Outfitters" I knew I would be back, and that next year I drew a Bear tag, so I called Robbie to set my hunt up.As Bear hunting started in Sept, Robbie started sending me trail Cam pictures of alot of big Bears he had working the bait's.The weather was cool and looking good, but as soon as I got to Millersbrg for the hunt the weather warmed up and the bear slowed moving until after dark, as with my Dad's hunt the year before. So opening day was on a Sunday, and the bears were hitting the baits at all different times, middle of the day, and night so I did what most bear hunters don't do, I got on stand an hour before light and sat until dark. I saw a Huge Bear at sun up as it started raining hard, and continued all day, but no good shot to take.Long story short, I hunted from Sun up to sun down Sun thru Friday, on a few different stands, never the same stand twice, all the bears were moving at night from the heat that came in that week. But I had nothing to do but so I was in the woods.On Friday morning just exhausted from the heat and sitting, Robbie put me in a high tree that my Nephew Jake Adlen Shot a nice one out of the week before. Robbie said he had a feeling on this stand today, and that's where he wanted me.I went into the stand around 3:30 that day (only day no morning hunt)and around 5:30 pm the Bear came in, he was a nice one and worth the taking, he appeared at about 30 yards out, and took about 40 mins to get in range for a safe shot in the thick swamp.He went right down, I text Robbie and he was there pretty quick with his team.The hunt was great, a week of solid Hinting, and night time with great people.The first Bonus was I took a nice Michigan Black Bear out of the same stand as my Nephew.The Second was the Bear Michigan Record book.As I said in my Dad's review below, our family are accomplished Hunters, it was a treat to have Robbie's Professionalism, Integrity, and Knowledge take over so we could just sit back and hunt !!This could spoil a Hunter!!Thank you Robbie, and the Dog Crew!! After my Dad drew a Michigan Bear permit, the worry began on how to get him in to the thick Bear woods, (as he has a hard time walking) I contacted the Michigan DNR for any help or information as to a Bear Guid who might help. The MDNR had help for us, they put me into contact with Tom Jones from Michigan Freedom Outdoors.I told Tom the issue we had, and could he help or give advice on a plan. Right there he said you will be fine, I have the just right guide for you and a Track Chair for your Father to use. I was waiting for the "But you need to do this for me" but that never came.Tom Jones gave me the number to Robbie McLennan, (The Dog Outfitters) and said call him he will set up your hunt up, and he will have one of my Tracked Chairs waiting for "Dad" to use in his hunt. I called this DogOutfitters, as my family and I are very seasoned Hunters and was wondering how long this " too good to be true "situation" will last. I called Robbie, and got a nice respectful person on the line, Robbie stated that Tom Jones has advised him of the situation with Dad, and that we were all set, and the Tracked Chair will be there for as long as Dad needed it for his Bear Hunt.We arrived in Millersburg.MI at Robbie's house the day before the hunt. He went over the Track Chair operation with Dad, my Sister Dawn, niece Autumn, and Nephew Jake Adlen, ( see Jake's review) Dad's filming Crew, and showed us where all the Baits were. Next day Hunt was on, Dad had a big bear come in close to dark, but in the thick swamp could not get a good sight on it. We hunted the rest of the week, but the heat wave that came in kept the bear from moving until late at night. My wife drew an Elk tag and we had a blast! I’m a lifelong hunter and this was my favorite hunting experience...and I wasn’t even the hunter!! Robbie kept us well informed leading up to the hunt, and my wife was successful opening morning!! Robbie had everything taken care of & thought out.
