As notaries commissioned in the state of NY, we take an oath to uphold NYS laws and regulations. Being a notary is about community service, not preying on the public for personal gain. Scanning through Hairston's dismissive responses on Yelp and Google, where she tries to justify exorbitant charges as convenience/service fees, it's imperative to set the record straight – notaries cannot impose such fees other than the ones prescribed by the state of New York. I consulted with two attorney clients and the county clerk's office, all confirming this fact and raising concerns that Hairston is either ignorant of the NYS Notary Public License Law or is shamelessly driven by greed. Supporting local businesses is commendable, but exploiting the community for monetary gain is unacceptable. I've taken action, reporting Hairston to the Department of Licensing Services, Secretary of State, Nassau County Clerk's office, OneNotary, and making it clear to the library director not to refer patrons for notary services. I told you that I was also commissioned as a notary & that I knew it was a $2 fee. You then ripped up my document & I said I was going to report you to the state. I can afford to pay $10 and I’m sure the other people who have complained about your services can also afford the $10 — in fact I paid over $9 to send the complaint form to the Department of Licensing Services by priority mail. Scam and cheat Stay away from them It’s a planned cheat by all family members at this facility On Thursday evening I went to send a package to Illinois and it was very important document that I wanted to send for our property deal and it was an urgent delivery. The rude young lady at front desk whose name I don’t know, she can’t even properly communicate especially because of piercing on her tongue told me that it will be very expensive for me to send that package by Saturday afternoon 4:30 pm She said it’s gonna be $78.29 If I want it to be delivered by by Monday it’s gonna be $40 something And even later for $20 something I chose for $78.29 as it was very urgent for me. When I checked by tracking it will be delivered on Tuesday evening So what actually she did was when I wanted to pay by credit card she said there will be extra $4 charge for the card so I chose to pay by cash. The actual cost I confirmed with fedex by giving all my package details was $38 and they ask me to reach to the shop and ask them and there was a lady and another guy both times I called and explained in detail but both of them were so rude and deny to discuss and help in any way. Worse part is that the guy whom I called to explain about the problem was not even ready to take tracking or any details about package. Seems like they are very well aware how to handle such situations. The lady didn’t mention the package delivery date and time on that and now they blame fedex for not being able to deliver on time. Fedex asked me to call to Revenue department and report this vendor and they opened a case against the facility already. Not only they cheated but my such an important time sensitive document was not delivered on time. Already in a process to report to Better Business Bureau. Very disrespectful Rude Fraud And a complete waste of time. Hoping that their facility will close very soon. Update: As soon as I posted the review the lady from the facility called me and threatened me that my package will never be delivered and she will make sure it won’t be even on Tuesday or ever and disconnected phone right away. Instead of acknowledging the mistake she was supposed to apologize and help the customer. This shows how poor customer service they have. Honestly they don’t have morals and respect to the customers. Finally he said he got a good one without showing it to me. He printed and proceeded to place in an envelope then began to seal it. I STOPPED him and asked to see it first.
