I am the caretaker for 2 outside compound shepherds in Prince Albert. These 2 dogs are young, and experienced some pretty big setbacks in their training at the beginning of this year. For a long time I felt super defeated, and like I couldn’t figure out how to fulfil Kane‘s needs being a stubborn and needy breed. But when it came down to it, I either needed to find a program that worked for me and him or rehome him which really was not an option that I was willing to choose anyway. So I reached out to Arsenal and got in contact with Dez and from day one just felt super supported and felt like my concerns and difficulty with kanes reactivity and impulse control were taken seriously. From the day I dropped him off I felt like he was in the best hands possible and I knew he was learning the lessons he needed to thrive for the rest of his life. Once I picked him up and brought him home, the skills he learned, became super useful and my house turned back into the fun and not stressful place that it used to be. At each take home session I was reassured that Kane was doing amazing and I had been doing just as good as him at maintaining and practising and using the skills that Dez and the team at Arsenal put so much time and effort into teaching him and myself. I would choose this training program at Arsenal again, and again, knowing that he came home the dog I needed him to be for him to stay in my home. Less

I cannot say enough positive things about the boarding rover program at arsenal. Our dog was extremely overly exciteable and nothing we did seemed to help get the message through to him (things like jumping, counter surfing, chasing anything moving including bikes, my kids, blowing leaves, dogs, squirrels, stealing hats and toques and mitts off my kids bodies). We felt like we had extremely poor control and the dog was making our life feel extremely unmanageable with our three kids. We have a child with severe physical disabilities so having a dog that yanks on the leash, barks at other dogs, doesn’t listen, and generally just runs wild around the house was not an option. He was also very reactive off leash and towards other dogs and sometimes even humans outside of the house. We had debated rehoming Gus but we were much too attached to him as a family. We had done some other group training and puppy classes as well as lots of positive reinforcement and training with him at home and it just wasn’t working for his reactive and exciteable behaviours. I reached out to Jenna and Jason and they recommended the boarding rover program for 4 weeks. He’s only been home for two days and he is like a completely different dog. He is calm, he hardly ever barks, he walks in a perfect heel next to me and next to my sons wheelchair. His recall is dramatically improved, and I feel as if I can trust him and give him much more freedom now. I’m looking forward to having a dog I can take camping with my family, to ball games, and on walks with my 3 kids. He is now adding to a better quality of life for our family rather than adding stress to our lives. Gus is a perfect gentleman who will ignore other dogs on walks and walk nicely beside me. He goes to his place now when people come to the door, and when released will greet people calmly and appropriately (he also will back off when I tel him it’s been enough so our guests aren’t being begged for attention by the dog for the duration of their stay). On top of all of the amazing things they taught him they have also taught me so much, and I look forward to making these behaviours concrete now that he is home, and helping him toBuild new skills on top of this wonderful foundation that arsenal has built for him. This was my last option for Mufassa, as I had tried multiple trainers for groups, private lessons, and obedience. He was a fearful dog since a pup, as he grew this turned into aggression and reactivity. Despite spending tons of money & time on various training, he kept getting worse. It got to the point that I couldn't do anything with him in fear that he would seriously hurt someone. He was lunging, growling, and barking at strangers and other dogs. Having company over caused a lot of anxiety. We couldn't even play in the yard as he was only focused on the neighbors dogs, wanting to fight them.K9 Arsenal in Prince Albert took Mufassa into their Boarding program right away. They kept in contact with me consistently, sending a report card every weekend as well as phone communication throughout the week. They went above and beyond to ensure Mufassa was not only cared for, but that I also gained confidence as his owner and understood how to work with him.Mufassa now:-in the yard we can actually play with his toys. I've only needed to recall him from the fence once when he was distracted by the barking dogs on the other side. He recalled immediately and went right back to playing.-we go on regular walks inside stores full of customers! He walks beside me and ignores all the strange people and noises.-outside walks are enjoyable as he walks with a loose leash beside me and watches for my lead. We walked by other people on the sidewalk and he did not try to hurt them. No growling or lunging.-I had company over. He stayed where I told him to the entire time (2hrs). He didn't like strangers in his house but he listened to me and calmed down very quickly. He relaxed enough that he fell asleep.-He still doesn't trust new people or dogs. I understand now that he doesn't have to like them - but he doesn't react to them either.-his body language shows way less stress and anxiety as he is relaxed and calm in public rather than fearing everythingThe team at K9 Aresenal continue working with me and Mufassa. It's obvious they truly care about their clients and do everything possible to ensure the best care and maintenance during and after training.I don't have a perfect dog, but I have a dog who listens and who I can enjoy daily life with again. Ty (Floky de Invictus Bull) was in the board and train program and Shelby Tisdale worked with him and was phenomenal. This was his second board and train with Arsenal K-9 and his progress the second time with Shelby Tisdale was profound! He is a Bull Terrier and VERY hard headed! Dez was a great trainer and the Reconstructing Rover program was everything we needed and more than we had hoped.We adopted Bailey as a puppy from the NESPCA. As she grew, we could see that she needed more training than the basic obedience lessons that we had repeatedly taken. Being a mixed-breed, high energy dog, she needed more of an outlet for her puppy energy and K9 Arsenal knew exactly how to make her and her humans happier. After the very first lesson there was far more calm in our home. Friends noticed that she was more relaxed after that first lesson! After completing the 5 sessions we can take Bailey anywhere and she’s definitely more than capable of being a great family member. I have had both of my dogs trained by Arsenal K9, and each time I am left amazed by they’re work. Most recently, I have had the pleasure of working with Des as she trained my dog Luna through the board and train program. I can’t say enough good things about Dez. She allowed me to voice my concerns about Luna and she ensured she would reach the goals we set out for her. Luna went into training which behaviours such as jumping, pulling, resource guarding, vocal, and lacked confidence. However, after a month of training Luna has gained so much confidence that allows her to come to work with me every day and be around large groups of children, without having to worry about her jumping, pulling, barking, or resource guarding. I knew Luna would be in good hands with Des, as she instantly provided her with unconditional love and treated her as her own dog. Arsenal K9 is possibly the best asset one can have assist in getting proper behaviour or obedience out of your dog. My dog Diesel is a 6-year-old GS/Husky who we adopted 5 years ago from the SPCA. He came to us with major behavior issues and bad habits that he picked up. I do not blame him; I blame his previous owners for these issues as they were not dealt with in the proper manner. Poor training and poor obedience all around. Diesel was very reactive to other dogs, so much so that I tried putting a muzzle on him to get him to stop. This proved fruitless as he would still react towards other dogs that were on or off leash regardless of the scenario, and I found this to be unfair to Diesel as well. At times, he would even show stalking behavior which is NOT good.As well, Diesel was a bit scared or timid to try new things. I tried to get him to go up on a picnic table at the park, or to climb into my tuck bed, or even the back seat of the car/truck. He would not. We would need to assist him every time as it seems that he was lacking confidence. Another thing was proper recall. He would come sometimes but not all the time, especially with a distraction even if high value food or items were provided. Food was not the answer to get this guy to stop reacting and learn proper behaviour, obedience, and social etiquette. I was at my wits end as we would always have to time walks where there were no other dogs around, no dog park visits, no activities outside of the family yard. It was stressful for the family, and I felt bad for Diesel as well.Jason at Arsenal K9 made quick work with Diesel and within the matter of days…..yes I said DAYS….it seems that everything was changed. My thought process on training and guidance for Diesel, Diesel’s behavior, his confidence, his recall, his reactivity! All seemed to be corrected. Diesel now stays put when told, comes when called, doesn’t react to other dogs walking by on the sidewalk, or in the dog park! YES, I TOOK HIM TO THE DOG PARK to test these changes. Oh, and the best part? HE LOVES TO JUMP IN THE TRUCK BED or even climb on objects when given the command! Diesel is so proud of the accomplishments too as he sits there, and his tail goes ballistic! Diesel is forever changed, and I am sure grateful for these changes. Arsenal K9 does some really great work and I cannot thank Jason and his team enough for their efforts!This 6-year-old dog now has some serious tools in his “Arsenal” that help with proper behavior and obedience. I also learned proper training, mindset, techniques, and ways to ensure that Diesel is now successful with ongoing/new training. I can't say enough good about Arsenal K9 in Edmonton. I am a first time Malinois owner and knew how to train basic "obedience" skills but I wanted more for my working dog to set him up for future success. I contacted Jason about what I wanted out of training, after being refered to Arsenal K9 and Jason recommended the puppy/adult training combo with one of his trainers Desiree.Desiree contacted me to give me details about the puppy and adult program and what I could expect, and we set up a date and time to start. When we arrived for every session, Desiree explained and demonstrated everything we were going to do during the session and why we were doing it. Most sessions there were other trainers and apprentices present as well to learn and provide advice/suggestions. Anytime I had any issues/concerns with Trooper between sessions I could always reach out to Desiree at any time or talk to her during our sessions. Desiree, the other trainers, and apprentices always had helpful suggestions or would bounce ideas for solutions off each other to see what might work for our situation. It's important to note that any issues my pup had were not at all Arsenal K9's fault - rather a result of poor training previously from choosing a different trainer before Arsenal K9 that wasn't beneficial for our pup - this is why it's imperative to choose your dogs training program carefully. For us, this was definitely Arsenal K9.Our pup did five sessions for the puppy training and is a totally different dog from start to finish. I am so proud of how well our puppy has done in this program and the best part is he had tons of fun while learning!In the beginning I was a little skeptical that he would learn what was expected of him in just 5 sessions, but we did exactly what Desiree had taught, and we worked with him every day, and I found myself at the end of session 5 wishing it wasn't done already - we had a blast!We can't wait to do more training with Desiree in the adult program. What an amazing team. In just one session you can notice such a huge change in your dog and it keeps building and building. Jason and his team are very personable and easy to work with. It may not be the cheapest trainer in town, but worth every penny and then some. I found we could have went with a cheaper trainer, group classes etc. But who knows how many group classes we would need to pay for and attend to get the results we wanted. Plus, none of the group classes have the high level of personal service and guarantee that Arsenal K9 offers. I could go on and on and on about how wonderful they are. We love Arsenal K9! Less

Arsenal K9 has been a positive experience right from the first phone call.Halle attended the board and train program in the fall of 2021. She is a rescue that came with a lot of fear and reactivity. She heavily guarded me and was fearful of most men, including my partner. After 7 weeks at Arsenal with Kendal and the other trainers, Halle had made an incredible shift. It has taken me some time to write this review because the reality of what I learned here is this: the trainers will give you and your animal the tools to succeed but, you need to keep up with them. Halle still had work to do and with the support of Kendal, we continue to train every day. Being consistent with the cues, rules and safe spaces that they taught us have worked SO well for this once scared pup!Halle is now relaxed in most settings, listening well and most significantly, forming a relationship with my partner. She is showing an increasing amount of love and comfort to him and we couldn't be more grateful for the advice and support from the Arsenal team.My advice to anyone thinking about the program is if you have the money, it's worth every penny. We had a fantastic experience bringing our puppy Stu to puppy dayschool. At first we weren't sure as the price is higher at Arsenal than other options, but the training and care that Christina and the crew provided was incredible and well worth the price. Not only was Stu able to socialize and learn to interact with other dogs and people, but he was also leash trained, desensitized to the outside world, and trained in obedience so that he can sit, lie down, and place on his mat until we tell him otherwise. Arsenal was a life saver for us. We recently adopted an amazing Pitbull (Nori) but previous trauma made her highly reactive and anxious especially around dogs. I had a really hard time deciding what to put in this review, but only because there’s so much to say. I don’t think I can accurately describe how life changing this experience was for me and my dogs.My dog Kevin had high anxiety, would constantly chew his fur off, scratch himself till he bled, and was a nightmare to take out of the house, barking and lunging on leash at anything that passed by, anxiety medication only took the edge off. My other dog Jacob is a big dude and does not like being told no, he would bite and jump on anyone that tried to stop him from doing what he wanted to do. Both dogs attended their board and train program, Vanessa really did an excellent job.Kevin has gained huge confidence, he no longer needs medication, and is so much fun to walk, we even go for off leash bike rides every morning! Jacob stayed at training almost twice as long as their program usually takes, with no added cost to me, he was really difficult to work with but they stuck with it. They don’t believe in sending a dog home until he is 100% ready, they'll never rush a dog out the door to re-fill a space or make their day easier. Jason and Vanessa were extremely professional and patient. Jacob is a completely different dog, he hasn’t bit or jumped since coming home, he takes direction, attends daycare regularly now, and enjoys long walks in the community and parks in the evening.As much as my dogs needed to learn to manage their own behavior, I had to learn as well. It wasn’t always easy to hear, but I didn’t realize the little things I did that were contributing to my dog’s issues. When I tell people my dog’s went to training, I always include that WE BOTH needed training. They were not harsh or rude, I never felt judged, but they were honest, and I really appreciated it.I would 100% recommend Arsenal K9, they would be the first people I would call if I ever needed help with a dog in the future. To this day, Jason is available by phone anytime I have a question or concern about my dogs, the help doesn’t stop when you walk out the door. I have a 5 pound Pomeranian cross who was scared of everything which she translated into aggression. Despite being one of the smallest dogs Jason has worked with and overcoming some equipment issues, Margo is now behaving like a normal happy dog. Jason was so patient with Margo AND me.
